Enterprise Christmas Party (Part Three)

The Party is now bursting with guests. Who else is coming in?

Rashbre enters the holodeck.

It was the usual rush to get from rashbre space across to USS
Enterprise for the legendary ECP hosted by Jean Luc-Picard, My
Calculus Rocket's helix booster was on "max", though I was mindful to
watch for blue flashing lights as I dropped back into the sub-orbital
ready for docking.

Outside of Enterprise was stunning, Data had somehow flipped shield
protection into "demo mode" and wired in a slightly cheesy Las Vegas
flashing lights overlay. It really said 'Party Time' to most of Near
Space.

The bass from the floor subs shook my legs as I stepped onto the
gantry before offering a hand to my date. There were a few gasps when
she stepped flashily from the Calculus. Ensign Britney and I had been
in a fling for a while now, but this was the first time we'd been seen
in public.

The route to the holodeck looked amazing and they'd even rigged a
glass bubble elevator like at Voodoo Lounge to whisk us up the 23
levels. I liked the attention to detail with the vista of space
replaced with one of the lights of Las Vegas.

At the main entrance, Worf and a couple of associates in salmon
coloured suits were on security, animatedly drinking prune juice and
laughing; "you two are cool", he winked whilst looking up and down at
Britney, "No searches today, Darlin'", he added in a faux British
accent.

Through the door and into an instant world of casino mayhem. Banks of
slot machines with flashing lights and beyond a more tranquil area of
softly lit tables with roulette, blackjack, pengo and jwbraqk. I
spotted guatami and the mistress of the dark winning huge quantities
of chips from one of the tables. At another table Panthergirl was also
winning, but as she caught my eye I realised she was getting ready to
move on "They're a bunch of zombies!" she whispered, pointing to the
other players.

We decided to head straight for the club area and almost immediately
ran into Craziequeen and Bob-kat in maddeningly fabulous outfits. They
had a great curvy corner table right by the dance floor. "Hey - join
the cool cats!" called Bob-kat and we snuck into the space with the
others who appeared to have found the wibble juice a little earlier
than us. Florence was positively giggling and appeared to be making a
soft toy with the tablecloth.

"Rashbre!" called Guinan from the distant bar - "I'll send someone
over!". I knew that both Britney and I would get our favourite drinks
and my Gargleblaster would be have a proper burnt orange topping.

Elvis was on stage at the moment - then I looked to the other stage
and there was another Elvis also singing. Jailhouse Rock. Britney and
I smiled - How appropriate.

"Lets hit it", said Britney and all of us from the table leapt forward
to cut a move on the dancefloor. I glanced at my watch.

Only 5 minutes in.

This was going to be some party!

-----------------

Things seem to be going as normal around here!

Here is an odd person; it's Dr Nemonok

“I am surprised that we received invitations to the Enterprise Christmas party.” We were hurling through space and time in my Shadow Stealthship.

“What can I say,” Gun Nut answered. “One of my relatives is on the crew.”

“Distant relative, I am sure.”

“Isn’t this great?” Gun Nut threw her arms around my brain containment case. “This is our first Christmas together. Oh this is going to be special!”

“This will be interesting. I have never attended an event on a Federation vessel before. I may be able to use this opportunity to study the crew in their work/play environment.”

“Oh Nemmy,” my lady friend rolled her eyes. “Do you ever turn it off? It’s Christmas.”

“I know that. I cannot stop being a scientist no more than you could stop being a heavily armed assassin.”

“Except I can’t bring any weapons on board the Enterprise,” she answered with a grin. “Have you seen their security? They have a Klingon in charge of it.”

“A Klingon? Ugh. Detestable.”

Our ship exited warp and we quickly located the starship. After exchanging hails, we were beamed aboard and escorted to the holographic casino.

“Oh isn’t this wonderful?” Gun Nut exclaimed as she looked around. “And this is all holographs?”

“Yes. Unfortunately, the effect is less realistic to my sensor suite. Say, is that an android over there?”

“I don’t know,” my favorite marksman answered. “Maybe he’s just jaundiced.”

“Excuse me! I say, I hate to intrude on your festivities, but are you an android.”

“I am, sir,” the machine answered. “I am Lieutenant Commander Data, please to meet your acquaintance.”

“I am Dr. Nemonok, psychologist. I too am pleased to make your acquaintance.”

“And you exist entirely in this containment device?” Data looked me over.

“Of course. You are a very interesting individual yourself. Tell me, is your brain positronic?”

“Indeed it is,” he answered.

“Fascinating.” I then noticed a familiar face closing in on me. A face that I did not want to see.

“What is it, Doctor?” Gun Nut asked.

“Is that Jon the Intergalactic Gladiator walking towards us?”

“I don’t know,” she shrugged. “Never met the guy.”

“He must be here to apprehend me. Surely he knows of my allegiance to Galactor the Evil Galactic Overlord.”

“Are you sure?” she asked. “Maybe he’s just here for the party.”

“Are you kidding? I cannot believe he chased me through space and time like this.”

“Just act natural,” she advised. “Don’t let him being here go to your head.”

“How can I not? He is approaching, quick shoot him.”

“I can’t, I’m unarmed,” Gun Nut answered. “Even If I was, we’d never get out of here.”

“You must still protect me. You must be my bodyguard, er, so to speak. Stop him.”

“Keep calm,” she hissed back through her teeth. “He’s not going to start anything. It’s Christmas.”

“Evil doesn’t rest on Christmas. Why should he?”

“Just keep calm,” she hissed again. “I know you can talk your way out of this. He’s just some dumb gladiator. You’re the galaxy’s greatest psychiatrist.”

“Heh heh, you are correct. I shall easily talk my way out of this.”

“Hello, I’m Jon the Intergalactic Gladiator,” the man stepped up and gave a friendly smile. Ah, I see, he is trying to lull us into a sense of false security before he makes his move. “I noticed you two from over there. Do I know you?”

“Please, I am sure that you know of me. I am Dr. Nemonok.”

“Yeah, I don’t know,” he shook his head. “Normally, I don’t forget a face. Uh, no offense.”

“None taken, of course. I am sure we never met before, but as your reputation precedes you, I was certain that mine preceded me.”

“Right,” he said. “Oh yeah sure, I know you. You’re a psychiatrist, right? Didn’t you lose your license?”

“Yes of course. It was taken away from me. You know how these government bodies are. All red tape, heh heh.”

“Tell me about it,” he chuckled. “Hey, you’re on that Who Wants to be a Supervillain show too, aren’t you?”

“Yes, I am on that show.”

“Ha ha, I love that show! You guys are too much,” he laughed. “Well, I have to get going, if I don’t dance with my wife, she’ll skin me alive.”

“How do you like that?” Gun Nut grinned as she threw an elbow into my jar. “He doesn’t know about you.”

“This is amusing. Who would have thought that Jon the Intergalactic Gladiator was such an idiot?”

Now where is Black Widow ?

A Christmas Spy

I was called into SHIELD ......

"Agent Romanova, code name Black Widow... We have a job for you..."

He threw down an invitation...

The Enterprise's Christmas Party... "Sir with all due respect.. We tried to gather intel last year... It didn't work." I say...

Fury walked in smiling, "It will this time... "

Tony Stark had built something that should prevent Security from beaming away any info we have... I am skeptical but decided why not...

I pull out one of my evening gowns... "Now Agent Romanova, you will keep the Captain's eyes busy, as well as other men... While Fury does recon..."

I nod at the General...

Fury and I take the invitation and step on Stark's device... The Presidential candidate smiles, "Now Tasha, Nick... We believe that because of last year, the starship's security will use a special transporter which will place a monitor device on you and alert them if you obtain any information you shouldn't have.... They will then use the transporter to ensure you are returned without that info. They will do this never telling you what they have done.."

Tony grinned and touched the his device, " but this will send the device onto another guest and will ensure they can't transport any information off of you."

Fury smiled and I shook my head, "Fury 24th century tech is so sophisticated.... What if.."

"It will be fine.. Nothing to worry about.." He put his cigar out and stood ready...

While Stark worked his invention we signaled the Enterprise we were ready...

Slowly I felt my atoms being broken apart and then reassembled.. The man at the transporter pad looked at me surprisingly... I turned and realized Nick wasn't with me.. I was alone...

"Security to Transporter room b we have an intruder..." He drew what appeared to be a weapon, "Now you just gold it right there lass..."

I looked around, "I don't remember the Enterprise looking like this last year... and your uniforms... Did you change them?"

He looked at me as if he had no idea what I was talking about... Several security guards entered... with a young man who spoke with an accent, he was Russian!

"Хорошо Вечер!" I say to him, "Где же капитан?"

"Вы русский?" He says...

"Yes I am Russian! Now answer me, Where is Captain Picard!" I yell...

Another man walks in, "Step a side, Chekov !" He looks me up and down and then smiles, "I am the Captain."

I roll my eyes, "You are not Captain Picard," I thrust the invitation forward, "I am here for the Christmas Party."

"Christmas Party?" He takes my invitation...

"Yes! Christmas Party! You know on board the USS Enterprise! This is the Enterprise isn't it?" I am starting to get annoyed...

"Да!" Chekov said to me in Russian...

Then a Vulcan walked in and the one claiming to be Captain turned to him and handed him the invitation, "What do you make of this Mr Spock..."

"Mind if I sit down... These stilettos are killing me..." I say shifting my weight...

"Stilettos lass?" The Scottish speaking man asked.

"Yes, stilettos. Don't you have high heels in the 24th century?"

Everyone looked up at me... Mr Spock then turned to speak with the Captain, "I believe I know the problem... The Invitation in question is for the USS Enterprise D, 24th Century..." He then looked at me, "You are aboard the USS Enterprise in the 23rd Century..."

He then walked over and looked at me, "But you are not from the 24th Century."

"No I am Agent Natasha Romanova, and I am from the 21st Century." I sigh, "I knew we shouldn't have ...."

I stopped myself....

"Shouldn't what Lass?" Mr Scotty asked.

"Look we were invited to a Party in the future. We signaled we were ready and they beamed us up... Or they were suppose to... " I say not reveal Tony's scheme...

"We?" Captain Kirk inquired

"Colonel Fury my date... " I titled my head...

"Captain, I don't know why they would risk beamin people from the 21st Century, I mean wouldn't that be against Temporal Regs? Either way, there are a number of reason why the Lass ended up here. As for her gentle friend, well he could be on board the Enterprise D or back in the 21st century... He could also be dead.." Scotty explained...

His last statement took me for a massive shock... I sure hope Fury is okay...

"Well, Scotty, Spock.. Let's see if we can't get the lovely lady to her Party... Chekov show Agent Romanova to her quarters. She can use mine," He turned to me, "We are an Exploration ship not a Luxury cruise ship.. Quarters are small, mine is the biggest."

The whole time he as speaking I was thinking, yeah right... I know what you are up to...

As Mr Chekov escorts me to the Captain's cabin he gets to hear a few Russian expletives...

Which from his smile he thought was funny... "What is so funny?"

He became nervous and mumbled a few words in Russian...

"Что такое имя?" I ask...

He straightened his Uniform, "Ensign Checkov, Pavel Andreievich Chekov"

"Nice to meet you Pavel... Now do you know where I might find a bottle of Vodka?" I offered my arm and nervously he took it... Before long I was in his quarters (not Kirk's) sharing a bottle of Vodka and singing Russian songs... My plan was to get him drink, once he passed out I would gather the info ... 23rd Century tech is better than going home empty handed...

I woke up this morning to Kirk calling for Pavel... Oops... I guess I had a bit too much Vodka... I squirmed out from under Pavel's embrace and searched for my dress... The young Ensign dressed and then took me to a room where Kirk sat with the rest of his staff...

My head was spinning... Pavel and I got a few looks... "Good Morning Miss Romanova..." Kirk said glance over at the Ensign, "I trust you sleep well? We are sorry you missed your Christmas Party but we think we can have you back in your time within the hour."

1 Hour that was all the time I had... While Pavel reported to do, I snuck out of Kirk's cabin where I was sent to wait and started gathering information...

1 hour later I waltz onto the Transporter pad, my mini spy camera full... with micro chips full of data on 23rd Century tech... Pavel ran in and stopped when he saw Kirk...
The Captain stepped aside and Chekov said good bye..

"Прощайте любовника. Пока в следующий раз." I whisper in his ear and watch as he blushed...

I then stand alone, "Beam me home..." Once I return to SHIELD HQ, I placed the data before my superiors, "Something for your Christmas stockings.."

Here is a tough guest: TAK, Army Of (Cl)One

As I leave shuttle bay 2, I sense the Enterprise crew is staring at me. I know that Star Trek and Star Wars don’t mix well, but I showed them my invite to the Christmas party from Captain Picard and they reluctantly led me to Ten Forward.

I scan the room and see being from many different worlds. The room is decorated in greens and reds and golds It looks like it may be a rocking party after all.

At the bar a women named Guinan give me a thick brown drink. It is sweet with a flavor I have not tasted before. But it is very tasty.

A stunning looking woman motions me over to her group and introduces herself. “Hello, I am Deanna Troi. I remember you from that show that you and the Captain were on together. What was it called Last something some thing?”

After a large swig of my drink I say “Last Gladiator Standing. It was a great experie…..”

“Yes, I am sure it was. Have you meet the rest of the crew? This is Data, Will Riker,” she mention a few more people, but I can only think of how lovely she looks. I feel a little strange and Guinan refills my drink.

I sit down at the table and gaze at Deanna “Are you an Angel?”

Deanna smiles at me, “What?”

I stare back at her, slurring slightly “An Angel. I've heard the deep space pilots talk about them. They live on the moons of Iego, I think. They are the most beautiful creatures in the universe. They are good, and kind, and so pretty they make even the most hardened spice pirate cry.”

Deanna looks at me, not knowing what to say, “I’ve never heard of Angels.”

Things are getting fuzzier for me by the moment, so I speak again “You must be one... maybe you just don't know it.” I lean forward and pass out on the table.

“Guinan, what did you put in that boy's drink?” Deanna laughs.

Guinan shakes her head and stare at me “Nothing, I only gave him chocolate milk. He looked a little young to be drinking.”

----------------

Amanda has joined the growing group of guests.

Transporter. Holodeck. Is that a replicator? This is all too much. I've never felt so awestruck in my life. I couldn't believe it when I received the invitation to the Enterprise Christmas Party. That left me speechless for hours. How will I function now that I'm actually on the Enterprise?

I'm at the buffet which is designed to help people mingle while sampling the many delicacies that Guinan has catered. Obviously, blood wine and worms are top on my list. NO, not really. But I do eventually hope to get around to them.

"No, I said Will was an EASIER leader. Not a BETTER one." I hear Deanna Troi says behind me.
I turn to see Counsellor Troi (much shorter in person) standing between two towering giants: Commander Will Riker and Lt Worf.

"Easier means you would follow him more willingly. Therefore more effective and better" Worf said.

"No no, he's just not as commanding as you" I hear Troi reply.

I've never witnessed Klingon anger building up but it was obvious to anyone that the deep rumbling voice seething those words was definitely an angry one.

"Worf, you don't have to be the best at everything. After ll, you're a warrior, not a dancer" Riker says with a smile.

"We'll see about that! I am just not used to this human dance that requires the male to be gentle with the female. I challenge you to a dual. Best of 3 dances!" bellows Worf.

By this time, a small crowd, including Captain Picard, had gathered around.

Riker raises and eyebrow and says "A duel eh? Interesting. What dances do you propose? And whats the prize?"

"My honor"

I can see that he's really mad now but I don't understand it. Why would being the best dancer mean so much to a Klingon warrior? Its ridiculous. But then, he's a Klingon and the slightest slight will not be tolerated I guess.

"C'mon Mr Worf. Let it be. Dancing is meant to be fun. Let' enjoy the rest of the evening. It' Christmas!" Captain Picard chimes in.

"Captain, you do not understand. I may not want to do this but my mother was a champion dancer in the Klingon Empire and I need to uphold the family honor. I cannot be bettered by Commander Riker. We must dual"

"Very well Mr Worf. Let me suggest then that the dances be randomly selected so that the dual is a fair one. Ah here is Mr Fontaine." Captain Picard says.

The spotlight and Vic Fontaine had also drifted to the little crowd.

"Mr Fontaine, Could you please generate 3 random dances with the appropriate music for us? You may select dances from any culture, planet and time. Please give a brief description of the dance and then we will let the competitors interpret it as they will" Captain Picard instructs.

"It will be my pleasure Captain"

With a nod to the band and I assume a quick run of the random dance generator in his head, the band then puts down all their instruments.

"The first dance is the Haka. This is a dance from New Zealand, Earth and it is the dance of warriors"

It is clear that neither Worf nor Riker have the slightest clue what this dance is. They just stand around looking confused.

"OK gentlemen. Commander Riker will go first" With that, Vic Fontaine lift his chin and then nods affirmatively.

Riker proceeds to walk around menacingly with his hands on his hips. His face tensed up in serious concentration.

Worf on the other hand, walks through his Mok'bara steps, the ancient Klingon martial art. He adds a few grunts and growls to some sort of a beat.

I'm betting that Worf will win this round. The crowd seems to agree with me. The winner is determined by the volume of applause measured by the Enterprise's computer.

"Computer, who received the louder applause?" asks Vic.

"Lt Commander Worf"

Worf beams with pride while a few Starfleet officers pat him on the back. He didn't seem to mind.

Another drum roll is sounded and Vic announces "The next dance will be the Limbo Rock. Ah, what a fun little dance that requires the utmost agility. Not much interpretation required, just go under the stick"

I couldn't help laughing at this. How would these two ever get themselves under the stick? Anybody else on the Enterprise would probably have been able to make at least the first round but Riker and Worf just seem too stiff to me.

"Every limbo boy and girl...." I hear the music start.

Worf starts first as winner of the previous round. I see him walk up to the bar and then try to lean backwards. I wonder how heavy his Klingon baldric is because he doesn't seem to be able to arch his back.

I then hear a muffled thud and clang of metal against the floor. Worf is on his back. There were some initial sounds of laughter but the fierce look on the Klingon's face silenced everybody. Riker holds out a hand to help Worf up. This isn't accepted.

The music continues in the background and its now Riker's turn.

I see that he isn't much more flexible than Worf. He manages to get his knees under the bar and has half his upper torso under but he is not progressing any further. Oops! There he goes. On the floor with Worf howling in laughter on the sidelines.

"OK. No winner for this round. That choice of dance may have been a little inappropriate given the competitors but thats what you get when you generate things randomly. The final dance is the Rhumba."

Riker immediately grabs Deanna Troi and mumbles "This will be easy. The Rhumba was invented by humans"

Worf looks at Vic Fontaine angrily.

"This is another HUMAN dance. That is unfair. Why haven't you selected any Klingon dances? In addition, it appears that this is a partnered dance. I came alone. Does this mean I have to concede?"

"Lt Worf, the Rhumba is a dance of passion. It transcends all cultures and lifeforms. All you have to do is draw on your inner emotions and let that lead you" says Vic

I see Jadzia Dax come up to the Klingon and say "Allow me to be your partner, Lt Worf. With seven previous lifetimes, I have plenty to offer."

"Very well"

Vic Fontaine adds that as there were no winners, both couples are to dance at the same time and the audience will be asked for their judgment at the end.

Riker and Troi start immediately and glide around effortlessly.

Worf took a few moments to adjust to the posture that Dax had him in but they too seemed to take off.

I look on with amazement at both couples. How do they just know how to move like that? Worf and Dax are especially entwined. They move along as if they have always been partners. Worf, the reserved Klingon warrior appears at ease and uninhibited.

Finally, the music stops and Vic Fontaine steps into the spotlight.

"Wow! Wasn't that a treat! Now lets hear it for the Commander Riker and Counselor Troi"

The crowd applauded, screamed and whistled loudly.

"And how about the Warrior and the Trill?"

A thunderous applause erupted. People were stamping their feet as well as clapping their hands. I guess the crowd started off underestimating Worf's ability at this 'ancient' dance. He did show that there is definitely the dancing gene in him.

"So we have a winner. Lt Commander Worf!"

Worf seemed satisfied but as usual, did not gloat. He nods to the crowd and thanks Dax. Riker came over to congratulate him but I think I may have seen a tinge of envy there.

The crowd starts to disperse and go back to enjoying the party. I've met a few people that are interested to hear about life in the 'old days'. I still can't believe that I am mingling with the crew of the Enterprise.

I wonder if I would be able to get myself a dance with Worf before I go home tonight?

With that, Part Three ends. Be here tomorrow when the Party continues with more guests!

Enterprise Christmas Party (Part Two)

The Party is underway now, and the guests are coming in. At the moment, no one has been put in the brig. It's only a matter of time, surely.

"I have had an Invitation Decline here from Miss Cellania " says Riker.

I read it.......

Dearest Captain Picard,

It was very kind of you to send me a personal invitation to your Enterprise Christmas Party. However, I must decline this one time. You undoubtably remember my performance at last year's party. I am afraid some of the other guests may as well. With this in mind, I think it may be prudent to wait another year for certain memories to fade before I attempt another appearance. Surely you understand.

Meanwhile, I hope to be able to visit the Enterprise during a less crowded occasion.

Yours,
Miss Cellania

-------------------

Right now, a strangely dressed man walks into the party... Batman

Christmas Chaos

I was wary of this future Christmas party idea suspecting a trap from one of my foes. Diana just laughs. "You should be a little more trusting. And if it’s a trap the four of us can handle anything. Besides Vincent says some of his relatives have went to Captain Picard’s party before, and have come out fine. “

“Hh.” I respond. “Like I really trust Vincent. “ Batgirl gives me an evil stare. I roll my eyes. “Fine we’ll go.”

After a transportation that is not unlike The JLA transporter. A Distinguished man greets us. “Batman, Batgirl and guests, welcome to the Enterprise. “ I am Captain Picard.”

“I’m Batman.” I love saying that. “This is Wonder Woman, Batgirl, and her boyfriend, Vincent. “ I almost choke on those words.

The children wander off, I dance with Diana. Though, I’m wary of some of the guests. I’ve seen Vegeta’s other son Mirai. A six foot version of Vegeta I suspect is a an adult Vincent. Being followed around by a woman I think looks a bit like Lady Shiva, saying. “You behave.”

Worse I think I’ve seen two Bruce Cains.

I’m distracted by the Crew who begins asking me questions. Picard Talks about detective techniques. That I don’t mind so much. But some of the questions were just off. “ Why do dress as a bat?” Some kid named Wesley asks.

“Because jumping off the roofs as some rich guy doesn’t strike fear into criminals.” I snort.

The Security officer Worf tries to take my belt from me and to go into fighting stance. When Vincent is flung across the holographic hall, fighting who I thought was his future self.

I roll my eyes as one of the Bruce Cains, some girl I don’t recognize and Shiva woman who had better not be a future Cassandra pull of the older Vincent while Batgirl tries to restrain the younger one. The two Vincents are thrown into the brig. Before I can ask the captain if he can’t just keep them there, The Bat Mite appears.

“Hey! Batman. It’s me your biggest fan!”

Why Me?

“Bat Mite it’s not a good time for you. In fact It’s never a good time for you.”

This being called Q appears. “A fifth dimensional Imp? Mon Capitan I thought you’d have better sense than to invite one those things here."

“I’m here with my bestest buddy Batman.” The annoying imp proclaims. I swear I have never encouraged him into the belief we are friends. Nor did I invite him."

Q sneers. “Is that so? Well I’m uninviting you, pest.”

They throw reality altering powers at each other casing all kinds of strange effects. Picard is turned in to Professor Xavier. A giant donut chases Riker yelling “HUNGRY!” Data is transformed into a 1960’s robot who can’t say anything but “ Danger! Danger!”

Finally some of the holograms wee warped into historical figures evil ones Like the Joker, Attila the Hun, Genghis Khan and a psychotic Abraham Lincoln? “Evil holographic Lincoln is back!” It declares.

I interrupt Q and the Mite. “You know all those Tricks are impressive but not as much as impressive as I’ve seen Impossible Man, or Mxyptlyk perform.

“ What?” Q acts insulted “I’m much more impressive than those posers! “

“Bat Mite whines. “They are not better than me!”

They both leave to confront Impossible Man, and Mxysptylk. Soon as they vanish all returns to normal. The rest of the night goes with out incident. There was only one problem. Captain Picard made me take Vincent back to the 21st Century.

--------------

Phew! An Enterprise Party is never normal, is it? Here is Jaime

Once again, my friend Marinda has invited me to spend Christmas with her on the Enterprise. After last year’s debacle, I wasn’t sure I wanted to, but she assured me that, this year, the party would be on the holodeck, at some 1960's nightclub, and there would be a lounge singer. And Data was NOT in charge of refreshments. So, I agreed.

It is, I must admit, a very nice party, and I’m not a big fan of nightclubs. Or the 60's. But Vic, the lounge singer, has a great voice, and I find that I’m enjoying myself immensely. The food is wonderful as well (I make a mental note, however, to stay away from the egg nog). Guinan has truly outdone herself. There are cultural dishes from all over the galaxy, and the centerpiece is a sculpture of the Enterprise made from oranges. It’s drawn quite a crowd, and there are two shady-looking men in business suits peeling the oranges they’ve just snatched from the starboard nacelle. They look like the kind of men you wouldn’t want to encounter in a dark hallway of an apartment building. I’m not quite sure exactly what kind of a holodeck program the Captain had in mind here, but perhaps they’re just here to give the party some atmosphere. After all, nightclubs always have their share of shady-looking men in suits.

Don’t they?

Just then Geordi and Data walk by, deep in conversation about having accidentally cross-circuited the holodeck program for the party with one having something to do with someone’s father. I don’t really catch it, as they’re muttering, but it doesn’t sound very good. Especially when I hear the words, “safety protocols” and “before the Captain finds out.”

I really hope this doesn’t turn out like last year, but just in case, I make sure I know where the exits are.

At this point, one of the Enterprise crewmembers comes up to me, and asks me to dance. The floor is pretty crowded, but everyone looks like they’re having fun, so I agree. The Captain and the good doctor are whirling about, completely oblivious to anything else going on (which, I imagine, is good for Geordi and Data and whatever issue they’re dealing with); Riker and Deanna can’t take their eyes from each other; Worf and Jadzia are the same, although they seem to be dancing to their own music...maybe it’s a Klingon variant of jazz. I don’t know. It doesn’t escape my attention, though, that all the senior officers are completely preoccupied at the moment, and should there be a crisis....

I refuse to let my mind wander that way. My partner starts telling me about his duties, but I find myself distracted by a dark-haired man in a suit who is making his way towards me, weaving in and out of the paths of dancing couples. He looks Italian, and he’s fairly attractive.

He continues to approach me, but I suddenly realize that he’s not looking at me; he’s looking past me. Curious, I pause in my dancing (much to my partner’s confusion) to watch him walk by. He strides up to another dark-haired man, this one in a white tux. He hugs him, and then, much to my surprise, grabs him by the face and kisses him on the lips! His voice is low, but I still hear what he says:

“I know it was you, Fredo. You broke my heart. You broke my heart!”

Fredo, the man in the white tux, turns pale, backs away, and nearly flees from the first man.

I have a sudden sense of deja vu (and danger). I’ve seen this somewhere before, but I can’t quite place it. The first man turns and makes his way back to the men who are eating the oranges.

Suddenly, it all clicks, and I remember where I’ve seen this before.

With all due respect to Geordi and Data’s technical prowess, I think I’ll just head for the exit while there’s still time.

Now a young lady by the name of Justice

A Real Prince Charming

All my mom could talk about was the Enterprise Christmas Party. She and Dad was going to have a good time so was my brother and his girlfriend, but what about me?

My boyfriend was dead... Although I find Galen attractive, he isn't interested in a 16 year old...

So I get to play Miss Lonely Heart at our table while everyone else is dancing...

I am sitting in the cool club with all these people around me dancing and listening to some great songs sung by a real handsome man...

After a few songs he walks over with 2 glasses of synthehol champagne which is legal for me to drink since there is no alcohol in it..

"Hello little Miss, mind if I join you..?" Vic asks.

I giggle, "Yeah sure."

"So what is a beautiful Princess doing all alone with no one to dance with.." the singer asks...

I shrug, "My boyfriend is dead."

"Oh that is tough kid..." He gave me a comforting smile, "but you know there are plenty of fish in that big blue..."

I looked at Galen over talking with Q, "I know which fish I want but I have to wait a few growth spurts..."

He looked confused.... So I continued, "I was born May 6th 2006."

He sat back quickly, "NO"

I nodded yes, "I have these growth spurts and they think I will continue to have them until I am 23, maybe even older."

Vic looked shocked as a member of his band signaled him it was time for another song, he held up a hand in the just a minute gesture, "You are kidding... Does he know?"

I nodded positively... "And..." Vic asked

I nodded negatively...

"Well, I don't have a date and I would be delighted to have such a lovely lady on my arm.." He said gesturing again at the band to wait...

"You are suppose to sing.." I say.

"I can also dance... I got Fred Astaire moves babe." he smiled... "Why don't you request a song and I will sing it while we dance to it.."

I couldn't help but smile big, "OKAY... My favorite Christmas song is All I Want For Christmas Is You..."

He took my hand, "All I Want For Christmas Is You it is then.."

"Ladies and Gentlemen... Allow me to introduce you to my date this evening... Justice Breifs.. Right now I am going to sing her favorite Christmas song and dance... Ladies and Gentlemen... All I Want For Christmas Is You." He then twirled me around on stage, "and we are going to dedicate it to Galen.."

My eyes got red and cheeks got flushed... as Vic started to sing and we started to dance...

I don't want a lot for Christmas
There's just one thing I need
I don't care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree
I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is...
You

I don't want a lot for Christmas
There's just one thing I need
I don't care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree
I don't need to hang my stocking
There upon the fireplace
Santa Claus won't make me happy
With a toy on Christmas day
I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is you
You baby

I won't ask for much this Christmas
I don't even wish for snow
I'm just gonna keep on waiting
Underneath the mistletoe
I won't make a list and send it
To the North Pole for Saint Nick
I won't even stay awake to
Hear those magic reindeers click
'Cause I just want you here tonight
Holding on to me so tight
What more can I do
Baby all I want for Christmas is you
Ooh baby
All the lights are shining
So brightly everywhere
And the sound of children's
Laughter fills the air
And everyone is singing
I hear those sleigh bells ringing
Santa won't you bring me the one I really need
Won't you please bring my baby to me...

Oh I don't want a lot for Christmas
This is all I'm asking for
I just want to see my baby
Standing right outside my door
Oh I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
Baby all I want for Christmas is...
You

All I want for Christmas is you... baby All I want for Christmas is you... just you

Vic made me part of his show it was great... At the end of the night... a little Christmas bell chimes and mistletoe appeared over everyone heads...

"What the... " Vic looked around then pointed, "There.."

A little witch woman wiggled her HI-NI and said...

"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night."

Vic smiled, "I couldn't have said it better doll.."
"Neither could I, Vic..." I answered..

Lastly today is from Fluke Starbucker, sent by Ciera

Fluke Starbucker here, kiddo's. Each year that Captain Picard over on the Enterprise throws this Christmas party...and each year that cutey Ciera just has me taxi her there. I guess my invite must get lost in the mail, huh?

Anyhoo, this year...I'm gonna tag along and crash the party.

So, I'm where I'm supposed to be to pick Ciera up and she tells me I have to wait. You can read about that part in her telling of the events. All I'm gonna say is that I didn't overreact to her questions about Sprok........anywhere nearly as bad as she portayed it. Honest.

The ensign that greets us as we beam over to the Enterprise looks suspisciously at the guest list...I don't know whether the ensign is looking for my name, or Ciera's date....what was his name again? I dunno, but it reminded me of Captain Kirk for some reason.

Anyhoo, I get through without any bother...is there security this lax? I'm suprised when they've got a Klingon running that show. The holo program was looking good..sexy babes every where...some goofy guy singing about sleigh bells and chestnuts roasting....I mingle with the crowd, doing some campaigning...

And Worf himself approaches me with all the grace of an elephant in high heels.

"You were not on the guest list," he growls.

Slurping down one of those little hot dogs, boy are they good, I reply, "Sure I was. Didn't Ciera tell you I was coming?"

"Lt. Commander Ciera does not report to me," Worf barked.

I have no idea why she persists in that Lt. Commander bit...she only pulls her imaginary rank out at Christmas...she doesn't use it to get in on any of the action around here...oh, I'm digressing aren't I? "Well then," I ask him, "You just ask her and she'll tell you that I'm on her guest list."

"I shall do exactly that." He bares his teeth at me in typical Klingon manner and leaves.

I glance over, looking for Ciera, but she was busy dancing with Jean-Luc while her date was helping himself to the different drinks on the table and barely tolerating the holographic waitresses that were helping him. He sees me and I give him wave, he just nods his head. Strange lad, but he makes Ciera smile so he can't be all bad.

"Well, if it isn't Fluke Starbucker..."

"Isn't it?" I ask, turning to see a...wow...a six foot blonde with a smile from ear to ear..."Do I know you?"

"Not yet." She loops her arms through mine and begins leading me away...

"Whoa...this isn't some sort of smear thing is it? You know, there aren't going to be pictures taken and then sent to the paper? I am campaigning after all..."

"Silly man...no pics are gonna be taken..."

We go through the door way, leaving the party behind and would you believe...that girl turns around and is holding a nasty looking phaser.

"Uhm..."

"Listen here Starbucker, I belong to the Party Opposing Jon the Interglactic Gladiator...and since you are campaigning to be his Vice President..."

"You're gonna shoot me for that?"

"I doubt anybody is going to be shooting anybody..." A meaty hand come down behind Blondie and picks her up by the scruff of the neck and the other hands took her phaser.

"Worf!!!!"

"I will not have the party interupted by violence," he snarls...uhm, violently. "And not because of politics." He hands the girl off to some of his goons...I mean, security officers. "Take her to the brig..if there is any room left."

"Worf! Old buddy, old pal..."

"I am not your buddy or your pal!"

"You just saved my hide...what can I do to thank you?"

"You can leave."

"But I'll have to take Ciera home..."

"Lt. Commander Ciera and her date will be escorted home by the Enterprise."

So, I left...but not before swiping some more of those hot dogs in a blanket...

With that, Day Two ends. Be back tomorrow for the Third Day, and to meet more partygoers!

Enterprise Christmas Party (Part One)

Well, the Party is about to start at last.

Guinan is in her frock, while sorting out the vol-au-vants to the holographic servants in the Sands nightclub where the event is taking place.

Vic Fontaine is giving a few last minute instructions to his band.

"Okay fellas." he says, "Let's make this an event to remember."

Worf walks up to me.

"The first guests are starting to arrive." he tells me.

"Have they used a transporter?" I ask.

"Errr.I don't think so, Captain." he replies, "I believe it was a broomstick."

Novy Book Novy News

Twas The Night...

Oh it did so happen the last year
When I was called to spread some cheer

So again did my friend Santa call
to send some cheer to the Captain and all

To my magic cabinet I did search and find
the very magic I needed to give everyone a good time

'Twas the night before Winter Solstice, when all through the 24th century
Starfleet was stirring, for their guess to see;

The stockings were hung by the transporters with care,
In hopes that Witch Novy soon would be there;

The guest were dancing in the Holodeck Sands,
While glasses of eggnog appeared in their hands;

And Captain in his tux and tie,
Wishing everyone a good time,

When from the shuttle bay there arose such a clatter,
Security rush through to see what was the matter.

In I came from on a broom,
past security I did zoom.

Covering the Enterprise in fresh fallen snow
Decorating the ship from aloft to below,

The halls with lights and garland appear,
all hung by eight tiny magic reindeer,

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
It is I Novy, here to help good ol' St. Nick.

With a wave of a magical wand and some holiday cheer;
I put up a large tree and decorated it with care!

Boughs of Holly and presents for Fontaine and the band
until Holodeck Sands was turned into a winter wonderland

Presents left under the tree and stockings full
I knew there was only one more thing to do.

My eyes -- how they twinkled! My dimples how merry!
My cheeks were like roses, my nose like a cherry!

Children made snowmen and angels
And I danced and rang my yule bells.

Above the heads did they appear and could not be missed
Mistletoe for everyone and everyone a Christmas kiss

And laying my hand on my hip, I wiggled with ease
Shake Shake Shake Shaking my little HI-NI

On to my broom I gave one more wiggle,
Then away I flew with a giggle.

To the Enterprise I exclaim, ere I flew out of sight,

"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night."

("Happy Winter Solstice too")

After that sparking start, the next guest is Bilbo

Christmas Party Observations by Commander Worf

Sometimes it is very difficult to be the chief of security on the
Enterprise. This is one of those times.

While I admire Captain Picard and am proud to serve with such a courageous and resourceful leader, I sometimes wonder about some of his rather bizarre decisions, like his insistence each year on hosting a Christmas Party on board the Enterprise.

I do not understand this fixation with Christmas. I understand that it was originally a form of religious observance, which has over time transformed into a holiday dedicated primarily to the purchase and exchange of gifts, the paying of visits to relatives and friends, and the consumption of excessively large meals.

But what particularly concerns me is the Captain's insistence on inviting such a diverse group of guests on board the Enterprise. Although he has managed to masterfully negotiate a temporary truce with the various races he has invited, I am still concerned about the presence of so many alien representatives on board, particularly the Borg and Ferengi guests. It is always necessary to inventory the ship's valuables before the Ferengi depart, and one never knows when an inebriated Borg will try to assimilate his partner during a dance. Two years ago my security personnel arrested a shapeshifter who had attempted to remain on board after the party by
changing himself into a large gift-wrapped box. His ruse was only discovered when one of the Enterprise's children kept pulling on the ribbons, tickling the shapeshifter and causing him to change back to his original form.

The party is in full swing now, with Vic Fontaine singing his latest hit and dozens of couples navigating around the dance floor. I am trying (at Captain Picard's direction) to project an unaccustomed air of jollity. It is difficult, particularly when I am required to wear this stupid red hat with white fur trim. It is insufficiently warlike.

Counselor Troi approaches. "Quite a party, isn't it, Worf?" she asks, stepping out of the way as Dr Crusher and Commander Data zip past, dancing an energetic Quickstep. "Yes, quite,²"I reply. Then I ask if her enhanced empathetic powers detect anything amiss. Troi closes her eyes and furrows her forehead, then looks at me and says, "I sense strong visions of sugarplums."

I believe she is making a joke.

I take my leave of Counselor Troi and cross the room to observe a group of humans of the subspecies Mafiosi. They are easy to detect by their period dress of dark pinstriped suits and fedoras, and their habit of carrying violin cases containing weapons. They are prone to violence, particularly when imbibing alcoholic beverages, and require careful observation to keep them from shaking down the other guests.

"Good evening, Commander Worf."

I turn to the voice behind me and discover the Borg Queen. For the Christmas Party she has made an effort to dress up by hanging various decorations from the tubes in her head. Several of the decorations appear to be made from parts of Federation ships.

"Good evening, Madam," I return her greeting. "I hope that you and your drones are enjoying yourselves."

"Indeed!" the Queen replies. "I am very fond of the music of Vic Fontaine. It is too bad that he is only a hologram, or I would be inclined to plan his assimiliation."

"That would be a violation of the terms of your invitation, Madam," I remind her.

"Oh, lighten up, Commander!" the Queen laughs. "I would not think of abusing Locutus's kind invitation in that way." She steps closer and looks briefly upward. "Commander Worf," she says slyly, "Are you standing under the mistletoe deliberately?"

"Mistletoe?" I am puzzled.

"It is an old Earth custom to kiss the ladies under the mistletoe," she explains, pointing to a cluster of green leaves and berries under which I am inadvertently standing. "I do not believe I have ever kissed a Klingon warrior before."

She closes her eyes and purses her lips.

I start to sneak away when I see Captain Picard looking at me from across the room. He gives me a small smile and a gesture that indicates he expects me to be appropriately welcoming and diplomatic to our guest.

I sigh, pucker up, and plant a warrior-quality kiss on the Queen's cold lips. It is a bit like kissing a fully-charged phaser rifle, not that I have ever done that before.

The Borg Queen eventually steps back, slightly out of breath. "My goodness, Commander Worf!" she says. "I knew Klingons were fierce warriors, but it appears they also make very competent lovers!"

"Of course, Madam," I reply. "Where did you think young Klingons come from?"

The Queen smiles and offers me her arm. "Why don't you buy a lady a drink,
big fellow, and then you can show me."

I believe it is going to be a long evening.

---------------

Galen has just stepped forward in his tuxedo.

Well if this isn't interesting... I had received an invitation to the 24th century, then my familiar Shiara told me we had been invited to go with the Briefs Family.

"Why not." I thought...
I could use something other than something dreary or some impending doom or something dreadful.... Yes a Party, a Christmas Party .. something cheery that should do the trick...

So I was told this was a Black Tie affair... I am not use to not wearing my black leather cloak but it is good to dress up on occasion...

We arrived at Vampirella's mansion and then transported to the Enterprise, where we were greeted by the crew and an unexpected guest...

His name is .... Q. Since he seemed a lively chap I decided to go along and have a chat...

In some ways he reminds me of Alwyn... Always ready to play a prank...

Well Q was looking to start a wee bit of mischief and he was looking for an accomplice... Now we Technomages have been falsely accused of being Mischievous I know but we really aren't...

I know you are probably saying to yourself.. I hear a but coming... and you are right... after all... it is Christmas, besides I had a lot of Klingon Bloodwine and Romulan Ale. I also forgot my Oxy Pills... What can I say, never get a Technomage Drunk...

"So who shall we target? Micro Brain..." Q pointed at Lt. Worf... "Riker? Jean-luc? Data? I know how about all of them..."

Downing the 12 glass of Irish Whiskey (by the way never mixed earth drinks with alien drinks), I smirked, "How about we play a game.."

"A Game you say?" Q was all ears, "I like you already!"

"Let's see who can play the best Christmas Prank.." I slurred..

Q folded his arms, "Rules?"

I thought about this, "They have to be members of the crew aboard this ship."

"Prize?" Q then asked...

"Prize?" I repeated, "I haven't really thought about it..."

Q waved his hand, "Let's say if I win.. I get your cool staff... If you win.... I will give you a Phoenix tear..."

Phoenix Tears are large crystals... Highly sought after by Technomages but very rare...

"Deal." I say...

Q announces he will go first... He waves his hand as the Captain is about to sit and he falls in a pile of cold snow....

I look at Q, "Really that is so... How about this.... " I wave my hand and suddenly Worf is wearing green tights and shoes with bells on them.. He looks like the perfect Christmas elf...

"Not bad" Q says and then points to Riker... Riker over to a plate of doughnuts and one leaps out of the pile and splatters like a pie on Riker's face....

"Well let's see if I can top that..." I wave my hand and Data's nose begins to glow red and flash...

Q bursts out laughing, "I haven't had this much fun in... Well a long time.."

Then he goes serious... "There." He notices Deanna about to cut a piece of chocolate cake... He waves his hand and the chocolate cake is replaced by a wood log.. She continues to saw on it...

For a brief moment I am distracted by a song dedication to me... Q looks over my shoulder, "Still your turn..."

So our Pranks continued as I continued to drink...

I heard my familiar call my name and looked over my and everyone else's head.. "Mistletoe?"

I looked at Q and he nodded... "Don't look at me..."

We then see a Christmas Witch shake her bum and then fly off... saying...

"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night."

Q and I continued our Pranks and drinking... The last thing I remember was someone named Guinan walking over with Captain Picard and Security... Then waking up to Captain Matthew Gideon calling my name...

"Matthew, I wasn't aware you had been invited to the Party." I manage to say holding my head as I sit up...

"I wasn't, Captain Picard contacted me and Earth Force in the 23rd Century and informed us that you were here in his brig. I couldn't believe it.. Galen in the brig.." My Captain and friend looked at me...
As I tried to stand I realized I had the Phoenix Tear, well I guess I won... the Question is do I want to know what Prank I played to win...?

---------------

Now joining the throng of party people is Jana

Here I am at Disney World, and it's almost time for me to report to the Enterprise's annual Christmas party. Despite the fact that I'm in the happiest place on earth, I can't turn down an invitation from the Captain himself. "I'm going to go ride Mission Space again," I tell my husband, who is heading toward the Seas with Nemo and Friends pavilion. "I'll meet you all over there."

I walk around the back of the Mission Space building and knock on a side door. A pimply-faced teenager opens it cautiously. "Jean-Luc sent me," I say. He nods and I slip inside. I hand the kid a twenty, and he ushers me into the backstage transporter room. Usually it's only used to get Mickey from one location to another, but I step inside and feel that familiar tingling as I'm beamed into the future.

I arrive on the Enterprise feeling slightly disoriented, but I guess time and space travel can do that. Following the crowds, I make my way to the Holodeck. I've always wanted to go to Vegas, and from what I've heard, the Holodeck is the next best thing. It might even be better.

Sure enough, I feel like I've walked right into a real Vegas club. The music is cool and hip and I start looking around for a familiar face. There's Reg over at the bar. He waves nervously, obviously remembering that I kept him on the dance floor all night at last year's party. I'll give the poor guy a break this year. I've got bigger fish to fry.

I run into Jen, minus her Horde. She is wearing a sweater she knitted herself. We stand and discuss the finer points of homeschooling, and then out of the corner of my eye, I see Worf. I excuse myself and run to tap him on the shoulder.

"Mr. Worf, hi, my name's Jana, and I'm a writer. I'm thinking of writing a romance with a Klingon as the main character, and since you have a little experience dating non-Klingon women, I wanted to get your input. And then I'd like to talk to Deanna."

Jadzia Dax steps from behind Worf, a mean look in her eye. "And why would you want to talk to her?"

Oops. "Um, you know what, I think I'm going to go get a drink. Yeah, that's what I'll do." I spend the rest of the evening knocking back synthehol and watching people dance. Maybe next year I'll just send my regrets.

------------

It looks like Worf is popular with the ladies this year, and it's only Day One! Jadzia must be displeased!

Here's a sinister looking fellow; it's Hotstuff

My Mom, Vampi loves the Christmas Parties that the Enterprise puts on every year... She was tickled pink when the invitation materialized...

My Dad, Agent (Mirai Briefs) and her decided to go... Originally hearing that Vic Fontaine would be singing she wanted it to be just them, but decided that it would be a family affair...

I invited my girl friend, Shiara ... As soon as Shiara and Galen arrived we signaled for beam up from the small xmas communicator that came with the invitation. We materialized and the Captain and his senior staff was standing there.... JP looked at our group... Mom in the red dress which was Dad's favorite, Justice and Shiara in elegant gowns, and finally Dad, Galen and I in our tuxes..

"Welcome to the Enterprise!" Our Host announced... "And...." Bev gave him a nudge "Oh and Merry Christmas of course.." He chuckled...

Mom Stepped down and handed the crew each a Christmas gift... It was Xmas Orchid corsages for the Ladies and xmas boutonnières for the men... My mom felt it was a nice modest gift...
Mom and Dad exchanged hugs and greetings to everyone and Captain Picard turned to ask Commander Riker to take us to the Holodeck... Suddenly a group of Christmas carolers appeared with someone that JP called Q....

Apparently Q was interested in joining the holiday cheer and meeting Galen...
Q and Galen strolled away and Will showed the rest of us to Sands holographic nightclub...

As soon as arrive we could hear the music.... Dad and Mom started to dance and I asked Shiara to dance...

After a few dances, Vic came over to our table... He spoke to my sister Justice and then they started to dance....

With Mom and Dad dancing and Vic dancing with Justice... It was just Shiara and me for a while... Then we were joined by a couple...

"I am Kira Nerys this is Odo. Mind if we join you.. The other tables seem to be full..." The Bajoran woman asked..

"No please..." Shiara smiled

I put my arm around her, "This is Shiara, it is her first time here. I am HS."

"Nice to meet you." Odo shook my hand firmly then Shiara's... She withdrew quickly

Immediately Kira got defensive, "Problem..."

"I am sorry... Um... I am an amphibious mammal so my skin is very sensitive. Most people don't know this but all living things put off certain energy and vibrations... Trees, Planets, animals, people.... Each vibe is unique to the species or type or life form... I didn't mean any insult I just ... well I didn't expect you to have such a different vibe..." I she blushed, "I am sorry, it's just you are the first to have that vibe..."

He nodded, "Yes probably because I am a changeling."

I could see his date looking for an empty table... "Changeling? Is that anything like a, " Shiara lite up, "Shapeshifter?"

"Yes" Odo stated dryly...

"Me too... I mean I am not a changeling but I am a Shapeshifter... A Therianthrope to be more accurate.." My date smiled...

"Really?" Odo lite up with interest as well... They began ask each other tons of questions... Odo in his natural state is liquid protoplasm and Shiara is a Dragon... While they talked on the different ways in which their physiology allowed them to change I turned to Kira... "by the way I am a Devil"

"I was wondering...." She seemed a bit not sure of me...

I smiled, "Oh I am good.."

"That's nice." She stated with a force smile...

Since Odo and Shiara decided to play who can change in the best shape I and the lovely Nerys danced...

As the night grew to an end.. I returned to my lovely girlfriend and we had one last dance outside under a holographic moon...
We looked up at the sound of bells and magically mistletoe appeared...

"Galen.." Shiara sighed and then we heard a giggle and saw a little woman wiggle her HI-NI and say...

"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night."

Shiara and I then kissed...

TWQ: Favourite Journal Character

In this TWQ (The Weekend Question), I am asking about those characters you read in 'Captain Picard's Journal'.

Who is your favourite character in 'Captain Picard's Journal' and why? If you have more than one say who and why.

At this point, I usually give my ownbut for obvious reasons, I am neutral today!

--------------

The Enterprise Christmas Party will start on Monday (late Sunday night) and the entries will change daily.

However, should you wish to send in a very late entry and possibly extend the Party, you may do so during the week.

As an afterthought I may not be able to answer as many blogs this weekend as normal as I am working on the Party. Apologies.

Final Party Preparations

I've gathered the staff to discuss the final preparations for the Enterprise Christmas Party, which will be starting in a few days.

"Right then, everybody" I start, "We haven't got long to go, what's the latest on the things we have?"

"I went down to Guinan this morning." Deanna tells me, "She appeared very frustrated. Her helpers were getting the vol-au-vonts all ready, and Guinan was saying to herself about bothering to take on these tasks."

"Everything will be all right, won't it, Deanna?" Riker asks.

"Oh, sure." replies Deanna, "But I'd advise everybody to say how good her vol-au-vants taste, otherwise they could be in for an earful."

"All right," I say, "Now what about the music with Vic Fontaine?"

"I went to visit him during his rehearsal the other day." Riker tells us, "I asked him if he needed an extra trombone player in his band. He saw me holding my trombone, but looked a little worried. However, he told me that it was going great, and if one falls ill, he'll let me know."

As his band were all holograms, I don't see that happening. It appears that Vic has been programmed with tact as well.

"How are we with the Guest List?" I ask.

"I am a little concerned, Captain." Worf states, "Though we have the brigs all ready, I fear that some of the Guest who have sent RSVP messages could be a little err...difficult."

"What do you mean, Mr Worf?"

"To know that a Terminatrix will be coming to the party is a worry. Captain."

Seven becomes annoyed at this.

"Sky is my friend and I will vouch for her!" she replies angrily.

"To have a Borg drone recommend a Terminatrix is scant indeed." Worf says, "I do see on the List that there may be a vigilante crime fighter who may help."

Seven marches towards him; this could get difficult.

"Look." I try to say to them, "All guests try to leave their aggressive personalities at the door when they come to our Parties. It's Christmas. Any that fail to adhere to that will be dealt with."

Seven and Worf each grumble to themselves and go to sit down again. Why are parties as complex as a diplomatic summit?

"Well, me and my sistah T'Pol are gonna make this a party to remember!" Ensign Britney announces, and she and T'Pol do a high-five.

Sigh. Just a few more days and it all starts. Has anyone seen my stress pills?

Thomas Riker (Part Two)

Guest Poster: Ro Laren

I'm in a right pickle now, as one could say.

While going on a Maquis weekend seminar, I have been chosen by Jalam, one of the most extreme members of the organisation to take Thomas Riker back to the Enterprise.

The intention is to replace Commander Riker with his duplicate, Thomas Riker, who was created many years ago in a transporter accident. Thomas Riker has joined the Maquis. Jalam has threatened me if I don't comply.

------------

You could say it's a rock and a hard place, whatever that means. I will be denounced as a traitor by Starfleet if I manage to reveal him or not. I could be threatened in unspeakable ways also if Jalam thinks that I have not complied.

"Not long to go, Ro." says Thomas as we get nearer to the Enterprise, while travelling in the DaVinci shuttle, "In about ten hours, I will be the new Commander of the Enterprise. I'll find a way to get Picard out of the way, and the flagship of Starfleet will then be under Maquis control."

"Do..err.. you think we're being a little extreme, Thomas?" I ask, "After all, the Maquis is really supposed to sabotage Cardassian outposts, not the Federation."

He gives a manical laugh, as all slightly despotical people tend to do.

"If you like, Ro." he says firmly, "I can put you in the same airlock as Picard when it comes to the time of disposing those in my way."

This Riker is seriously one dilithium crystal short of a warp drive.

I'll have to deal with him before he gets to the Enterprise. If I can signal a moderate Maquis vessel, they will pick him up and arrest Jalam for his extreme activities.

I resort to the best way possible; I use my feminine wiles.

"Thomas." I say softly, "What can we do on the long journey to the Enterprise?"

While I say this, I kiss him softly. I also feel sick for having to kiss someone so appalling.

As we do, my arm outstreches, and I press the communications signal, adjust it to the Maquis code and see that a distress message is sent out. Riker is too busy enjoying me to notice..

----------

Ten minutes later, a Maquis vessel shows up and beams us off. I explain to the moderate commander, and he arrests Thomas.

"We will go and arrest Jalam as well." he tells me, "We've had our eye on him for a long time. The Maquis shouldn't be infested with those type."

"You've made a mistake, Ro." says Thomas, as he is led away, "This will go a lot higher. Certain sections of the Maquis will not forget what you have done."

-----------

I am beamed back on to the Da Vinci, and soon arrive on the Enterprise, to be welcomed back by Captain Picard and the real Commander Riker.

"Had a good time?" asks Riker, "It wasn't too boring on the long journey here in the shuttle, was it?"

I give a slight smile.

The things I do for Starfleet!

Author's Note:

Don't forget, the deadline for the Enterprise Christmas Party is extended to Friday 30th November. See last weekend's post below TWQ for details. I want your Party entry!

Thomas Riker (Part One)

Guest Poster: Ro Laren

This weekend, I'm going on a Maquis Weekend. It gives me the chance to look up a few old friends, and catch up on the latest gossip about who is with who and how long for.

I must admit, some of the more extreme elements of the Maquis have a poor opinion of me, as I still am part of Starfleet, and have not quite, as they did, when the Cardassian Alliance was formed.

However, some of the others like me, as they see me as their 'girl on the inside', able to supply them with information.

The extremists think I just want to have my cake and eat it.

Well, as Deanna Troi might say, as long as it's chocolate.

-----------

I've beamed down, and everyone is chatting to each other, saying disparaging thing about the Cardassians and how they managed to cause trouble. I join in, saying the Enterprise stopped Gul Buket, a tough Cardassian from turning a Bajoran planet into a Cardassian vacation complex. That receives a lot of cheers and I get a free drink.

I'll have to think of a few more stories like that.

Shortly, Jalam, one of the more extreme leaders of the Maquis approaches me.

"Ah, how is our little weekend Maquis operative?" he asks.

Another sly dig, I think.

"I have someone I'd like you to meet, Ro." he tells me, and leads me into a special room.

"Commander Riker?" I ask.

"In a way." says the lookalike, "I was created in a transporter accident many years ago. You may call me Thomas, which is my middle name."

"And you have joined the Maquis?"

"Yes." he replies, "We want you to help me in a special mission."

"Which is?" I ask.

"I want you to go back to the Enterprise with Thomas." says Jalam, "And replace Will with Thomas."

"It'll never work." I say incredually, "Besides, I'm a friend of Commander Riker and I'd be beteraying him and Starfleet."

"It's not a request, Ro." Jalam says solemly, "If you don't..."

Suddenly I am beginning to see the dark side of the Maquis. As I only just visited occasionally, I haven't been aware of their more sordid activities. Their cause may be valid, but does the end justify the means?

Did I get that right? I'm never sure if I'm saying that back to front.

Jalam was known to be one of the very most extreme figures of the Maquis. Do the majority of leaders know about it?

"You're going back NOW, Ro." says Jalam, "You're taking Thomas with you!"

--------------

Before I can say anything to the more moderate members, I am bundled into the Da Vinci shuttle with Thomas, and we are on our way back.

"Don't worry, Ro." says Thomas, "As your new Commander, I'll treat you well for giving me a lift to the Enterprise."

Things are looking decidely tricky right now....

TWQ: On The Wall

TWQ (The Weekend Question) asks you to look on the wall on your house this week.

What is your favourite item hung on your wall? Select more than one if you can't be too sure.

My answer is:

I have this limited edition below from the artist Carrie Graber, called 'Contraste' (below)

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

The secret of Carrie's pictures is that we hardly see the faces of the women. I would love to buy an original, but they would be quite costly!

Now it's over to you...

But before I go....

Here's another chance to see the details of the Enterprise Christmas Party Invitation, posted a few days ago:

This is your official invitation to the Enterprise Christmas Party that starts on Monday 3rd December!

What I'm asking you to do is write a short post of what happens from your viewpoint at the party. It will be then published in the Journal.

These are the rules to remember:

1: The post is from YOUR viewpoint only. You can involve Enterprise characters, plus other known races and figures, such as the Romulans, the Borg, Q, Lwaxana Troi, Seven, Jadzia Dax, Karena, Ensign Britney, T'Pol or make some up yourself. You can even include some bloggers that are likely to be there (see my Guest Quarters' list on my blog).

2: Remember that that this year, the event is taking placing at the Sands holographic nightclub on the Enterprise holodeck. It will be in the style of the early 1960's Las Vegas casinos, with the hologram Vic Fontaine doing a singing session. The catering will be done by Guinan and served by Sands casino holograms there. Anything can happen. You are only limited by your imagination!

3: The length should be whatever you consider suitable.

4: Remember this is a family-friendly Journal, so take heed of what you write.

5: In accordance with Rule 4, I reserve the right to trim entries or not to publish them if I consider them unsuitable.

6: The closing date for entries is Wednesday 28th November.

7: Send your entries to: Captain Picard (wibblywebb-1@yahoo.co.uk) marking your entry 'Enterprise Christmas Party'. The E Mail address is also under 'Secure Channel' on my Journal page.

8: Don't forget to include your blog ID and your blog URL address so you can be credited.

9: If I get a substantial number of entries, I will be doing several posts together, to be changed daily from the 3rd December onwards.

10: For any of those unsure of what their entry should look like, read some examples from last year's party in the December archives week commencing 4th December, or the year before, week commencing 5th December.

Good luck, everybody!
