TWQ: Blog Starts

As the post after this one will be the 500th one, this TWQ (The Weekend Question) takes a look into how we all started in what we do.

Why did you start your particular blog, and how how it changed sinced the beginning, and the way it is now?

My answer is:

When I first started, I intended to do a blog about my life in the office that I worked, but thought it could be too dull, as not too much happened. I picked instead a subject that I knew a lot about, and decide to project it from a different point of view. The first posts were small, without pictures, but have grown over the times.

Now it's over to you...

But before you go...

As mentioned above, the next post will be the 500th. Be sure to drop in when that comes, which will be from Sunday night onwards, British time.

I started as a place to write random thoughts. It's pretty much stayed that way, although I'm writing more frequently than I originally intended. The real plus for me has been finding blogs that I enjoy reading on a regular basis.

I am truly amazed at how small the web has made the world and that we can enjoy each others thoughts and posts from around the globe.

An advanced congratulations on your 500th post.

Live long and prosper.

Well....I started blogging because I was encouraged by my daughter-in-law and my niece. At first I hesitated but I tried. Wasn't much of an enjoyment as I didn't know anyone. I started to browse the internet for blogs and found some interesting ones.
Now, I can say it has gone a long way and I have met so many friends like you.
In case I can't visit for the 500th, I would like to congratulate you and greet you a Happy 500th posts.

I started blogging to hightlight the plight of thousands of people whose lives are blighted by being picked on by vampires.

Since the beginning I have discovered that it's not the vampires you need to look out for but the evil witches.

A friend kinda forced me into it. The first few months were a lot of quizzes and surveys and memes...Now it's not so much that, except for the Music Memoirs memes that I create...and more my life :)

I started my blog as way of encouraging myself to write every day. I'm very lazy and found it so hard to write every day! I was thinking of giving it up, when I started discovering other blogs all over the world that I loved. I now read my favourite blogs every day and get real pleasure from having discovered so many interesting people to read about out there.
I tend to write about things that are important to me, passions that I feel strongly about. I have another blog now, where I post articles to highlight cancer awareness. I'll be adding heart disease and stroke awareness too.

And your 500th anniversary? Wow. Now that I know you're on British time, I'll be opening a bottle of wine for you at 7pm tomorrow.
For your 500th, you're looking great, by the way:)

First, congratulations on reaching 500 posts!

My blog has changed - I changed the name and the location - but I still blog about everything and nothing. I hit about 1200 posts on the old one, and th4e new one stands at 297, I think, since February. Michele says congrats, too!

Congratulations on your 500th post, jlp!! Woo-hoo! :)

I started blogging as a way to unblock a creative flow that I had known when I was younger, but that had basically fallen by the wayside as life took over. I wanted to share what I wrote with "the void" as I referred to it initially. Now, I have made lovely friends, and my blogging has become more of an exercise in true connection with some really exceptional people. ...like you, Captain Picard. ;)

I started blogging so that friends and family in Canada could follow our adventures in Hong Kong. I am not sure how it has changed me, but I know that it is about to change me. Congrads on the 500th post. Great work!

I started out with a particular story that I had to tell. I find that the story continues, but in a different way and timbre than it started.

I guess it's because over the past several years not only have I matured, but so has my writing. I find myself wanting to take my writing in a different direction than when I started my blog. :D

Hi Jean-Luc, Michele didn't send me here, so I came off my own bat.

I started my blog because Aginoth nagged me into it. I had no idea what to write. Initially I used it to journal my preparation and the event of my first (and last!) skiing trip.
I dabbled in fantasy with servants and a mansion, then decided to keep it Real.

My very first blog was on LiveJournal and I started it as a way to put down my thoughts & feelings after suffering a pretty major broken heart. All things considered it read more like "Dear Diary" then anything else and most of the entries are locked down at this point!

My current blog began when I got the offer from our local newspaper to join in with a feature they were starting of having blogs available on their online site. I had to choose a topic (which is the life and times of a single working Mom who answers 911 as a living, etc., etc. blah, blah, blah) and technically I am supposed to stay on topic though I appear to veer off on a constant basis now!

When I first started blogging I had no audience and felt that I was essentially typing to myself but that has changed in that I now have people who not only read the fluff & stuff I write but who have also become good friends in the process.

I have met some truly wonderful people on this journey and you, my friend, are one of them!

I started My blog due to a school assignment. It was about the book Silverwing but I messed it up and when blogger changed to blogger beta I lost the account and I haven't figured out how to log on.

I actually started with a livejournal, as a form of cheap therapy. :) It's my totally uncensored place...then I moved to blogger and it evolved a little bit into...something else.

My blog started as a private space for only a few to read as a way of coping with the last few weeks of a busy BA degree. It seemed to help to put all the days tasks and work into words and help me focus on the day to come.
Now it's turned into a what I do, what I think sort of blog. Full of cats, knitting, my christianity, pots, books, and family. I hope it's interesting to read, and I enjoy writing it.

I started blogging so my friends could keep up with what was going on without having to read boring emails or aim's about non-exciting things such as weather, toddler poop and the horrors of elementary school.

I started blogging as an outlet for writing after leaving my bi-weekly commentary spot at the Sunday Irving News, a satellite newspaper of the Dallas Morning News. I missed writing.

How has it evolved? I have added the "dark side of the force", blogger Tom Gordon, who is the liberal voice to my more moderate voice.

How has it changed? Going geopolitical, Baby!

Congrats on your 500th post by the way.

I started daughter of the empire as a way to encourage myself to write, it turned into something mzch larger than I had bargined for. I have learned so much about the art and craft of writing from doing it.

my other blogs are a way for me to keep in touch with friends and family over HUGE distances.

It always seems that we start off small and eventually our blogs grow in size and appeal!

Funny someone should mention "Dear Diary" as that's how mines started out life way back "when".... Few knew about it back then just like a real "secret diary" then someone showed me their blog and the rest is as they say history. I went I want to be able to do those things so I moved the whole thing, lock, stock & comments to Blogger where they sit for the few to see. I keep telling those pesky robots to go away..
It started off small and it stayed that way..

I started sending out a daily joke list to reconnect with friends and let them know I was still the same inside after becoming a widow. A blog was a natural step up from that, and I thought it might be an opportunity to make new friends. Boy, was I right about that!

One of my friends with whom I exchange social/political/humorous thoughts on a regular basis told me I ought to start a blog to spread the agony to more people. It's worked. The best part is some of the unseen but valued friends I've made and the entertainment I've enjoyed from the better blogs.
