TWQ: Cooking Dishes

For this week's TWQ (The Weekjend Question), we take a trip into the kitchen...

What dishes can can cook? What is your 'speciality'? Write down as many as you like.

My answer is:

Sorry to say I barely know where the kitchen is! I could probably make something in a microwave if I tried, but to actually cook something from ingredients....time to visit a restaurant!

Now it's over to you...

But before you go...

Secret Squirrel has kindly nominated me in three categories in the Blogger's Choice Awards (see my sidebar). If you would like to vote, click the badge and head over.

Thanks!

Good morning, Jean-Luc. I am not known as a great cook, but I am very good on some things: grilled chicken, pot roast, pinto beans and cornbread, potato pancakes, and Welsh rarebit are the things mr. kenju and my kids like.

Michele sent me.

I can make a mediteranian omelet and reheat things. Or croque monsieur (two slices of bread with cheese and ham inbetween, put in the grill). I need others to feed me, unfortunately. But I am willing to learn how to cook. Willing.

BTW, Captain, don't forget Dr Who this Saterday!! Just a reminder.

I don't really have a specialty, per se. I do make a really good fruit salad out of pineapple, apple, and coconut. That's not really cooking though. Other than that, I'm pretty good with egg dishes.

Lasagna, broccoli casserole, stew for real food; brownies, pies, cheesecakes and an assortment of cookies for the "good stuff". And Michele sent me to tell you that.

I used to be a pretty good cook... I guess I still am, I just don't do it much. I make fabulous salsa from my homegrown vegetables- a year's worth at a time! I also make jellies and jams. And I'm proud of my homemade chili! My stir-fry and curries are crowd-pleasers, too. Maybe I should invite some folks for dinner, because these picky kids don't justify the work!

First off, I voted for you for The Blogitzer (I had already voted in the other categories, sorry!).

As for cooking, I make one hell of a New York style cheesecake and can make a good meatloaf, too.

I used to cook a lot back when I was still married but not so much anymore as I either lost interest or just don't have the motivation. Every great once in awhile I'll whip a good sit-down dinner but mostly it's simple stuff that doesn't take much time or talent!

Thank you for the explanation re last post. My favourite dish to cook at the moment is Italian Beef stew because the family love it and am doing it tomorrow for the next visitors. Beef, red wine, tomatoes. mushroons, carrots, barlotti beans. garlic, shallots, bouquet garni served with fresh vegetabes and baked potatoes.
Michele says hello!

I'm good with enchiladas and a pasta bake. I can also do tuna casserole and a corn bread casserole.

I'm a horrid cook :)

You have some great cooks posting here. I think food is best kept simple, and I love fresh herbs. I do a great roast dinner and I love salads too. One of my unsual specialities is rhubarb lasagna - served as a pudding and made with cusstand instead of bechemel sauce.

Excellent question Jean Luc-I make a mean pasta salad, meatloaf, grilled chicken in lime sauce, scalloped potatoes (not outta da box), and sugar free rice pudding. Looks like you've got a lot of good cooks out there! Have a good weekend.

Oh, I tend to do basic stuff, it's what they will all eat.
Roast, with mash and veg, chicken casserole, sausage casserole, stir fry, and they all love my Lancashire Hot Pot.

PS if you missed Dr. Who and are going to catch up, it's a weepy get your tissues handy!

I can see that I'll be in for a reat if I drop in on any of you for something to eat! So many excellent cooks!

Fab & Susan, I only missed the first Dr Who of the third season. I saw the one on the eternal motorway. I know what the Face of Boe meant.

Hi from Michele's

I am a "home style" cook. Casseroles, soups, stews, good old Midwestern USA cooking.

I stand on the corner. I see someone in a Starfleet uniform.

I know the drill: newspaper under the right armpit. A lit Dunhill nonfiltered in my right hand.

I adjust the fedora and approach.

"Michele sent me," I say.

As for cooking, I do a mean Mexican baked penne pasta.

Cheers.

I love to cook, did alot his past winter with the slow cooker - the best dish? Baby back ribs!

Whenever we are invited to dinner (or potlucks) I am asked to bring homemade dinner rolls. It's my only "thing". Some are known for their great desserts, others for their awesome salads, and still others for some main dish like lasagne or the like. I'm known for my buns :) .
