As it is the weekend, it might be appropriate to ask this:
What is your idea of a perfect weekend?
Here is my reply:
Though there are many answers to this, I can envisage two, one at home, the other away.
At home: A long lie in, following by keeping in touch with my friends on the internet. Then a visit to the cinema, then at night seeing a favourite DVD like 'The Hours', 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' or 'LOTR'. The next day would be much the same.
Away: A visit to London, looking around the shops before having dinner at a great restaurant before going to the theatre. The next day, a full English breakfast before heading back home.
Now it's over to you....

Mmmmmm, having just had a few days away in London I'm certainly looking forward to the "at home" kind of weekend - although a phone call that came in while I was writing this comment seems to have put paid to that idea...
My perfect weekend is one where I can put the stresses and strains of everyday life behind me and just chill out. Whether I'm chilling on my own or chilling with my son, doesn't matter - as long as I'm not stressed out at the weekend!

Sending the husband & kids away & doing NOTHING but read! Thanks for stoping by via Michele's.
Good morning from the "other" London. Your challenge has got me thinking. I think the ideal weekend includes many of the elements you described - sleeping in and movies. To that I'd add simply spending every available moment with my wife and kids - preferably on the floor with the little people climbing all over me.
Oops, almost forgot to say: Michele sent me.
You always manage to make me think.
It's too early in the morning for this!
Home: sleeping in late...french toast for breakfast...reading, writing, watching tube all afternoon...and a prayer meeting without disruptions [nasty Klingons anyway]. Sunday - church wouldn't be in a hurry to get over, and I wouldn't have to do overheads for the songs and we'd all spend ample time soaking in the Lord's presence before Pastor is handed a large check to that he can take all of us out to a fun afternoon lunch somewhere...which of course would turn into supper and the restaurant would hate us because we're having so much fun!!
Away: Egads! I've never been very far away from home on my own...so I'd go way out on a limb here and say - - far away and either by myself or with a handsome man I haven't met yet. Where? Anywhere! The beach, the mountains, another country [I want to see the UK someday, along with Australia, and Russia, and...]. Exploring, meeting new people...no relatives, no boss...just going. Yeah - someone else would have to do overheads at church that weekend because wouldn't be there - I'd be in some other church where someone else has to do them!!!
Oh - was I supposed to go on this long?!?!? You got me thinking and then I was having fun imagining what I could do!
Later captain...have a great weekend!
I'd like a whole weekend at home on the computer, where I can read my blogs in peace and play Michele's Meet N' Greet all day long, if I feel like it!
That's how I got here, by the way.
Away: a weekend on the beach, with good seafood.

I would like to hang out and not feel like I have to do all this other stuff, like the laundry.....
I've zapped the spammers forever by not allowing anonymous comments. That'll teach them to attack the Enterprise.
I like the comments so far; we all want to put the stress of the week behind us.
Ciera, you write a great answer. I know just how you feel. Hope you visit the UK soon. That's where I am.
Home - Spent blissfully alone, ordering take out, watching chick flicks, taking long hot baths, and scrapbooking.
Away - Spent at a Westin hotel (where they have the best beds!), ordering room service and catching up on much needed rest.

Friday night, out with my friend Patsy at our favorite hangout. Saturday, sleep late, do some shopping with Princess. Saturday night, go see a band with friends. Sunday, spend the day in my pj's with my family.
Let's see. Get up late, check e-mail, do a little home improvement, watch a football game(America football), take the dog for a long walk in the countryside, have a good movie on DVD to look forward to. That's my day.
another reason to visit the UK!
A perfect weekend is the entire house to myself, sleeping in late, wearing pj's all day if I so desire, and a good book.
I usually work Saturdays, so any Saturday I have off is pretty nice.
My best days off include going to garage sales with my girlfriend and only stopping for a bagged lunch. Then my husband and I going out for supper and a movie or play afterwards.
Home: Sleep in, spend as much time as I want on the computer, manicure-pedicure-massage, out with my sisters, lots of wine and good food
Away: the beach -with much of the above included
I'll take both of yours if you'll take my kids for me for those weekends.
Today there was no sleep in. My youngest seemed to be on speed or something. We were all tired, but had quite a few giggling fits throughout the day. In the grand scheme of things, i guess it was pretty perfect, too.
A perfect weekend for me would include a lie on a beach with a book. Here or in some tropical paradise.Michele sent me today.

I work most weekend nightshifts and sleep most of the days but I like your ideas. Only I will do it on a weekday.

Lie in bed, daughter making me breakfast (need to show her how to make stronger tea). Trip to the shops with the kids and then watch a football game, then a grand prix, pretty much what happened today.

My perfect weekend would be winning a multi million dollar lottery and then forgetting the stress of bills and traveling around the rest of my life. LOL.
But realistically, simply spending time with family - getting a little TV/computer time, good (not too hot weather), good sleep, good food,a hammock, an interesting book, a good sermon (when I'm able to force my naughty self to go), - things like that are just grand for me.
Thanks for inviting me aboard! :)
Hmmmm, the perfect weekend.... Having just gotten home from a week at the beach, I can say that being home in my own bed WITHOUT SAND IN THE SHEETS is pretty great!
Any weekend with a sense of adventure, whatever that might be, my computer, and a good book is perfect for me. Hope you are having a great one!
The perfect weekend begins with no homework...and my husband, the beach, and chocolate cake.
A really good book...so good that it doesn't matter if I stay up until 3am as I will be able to sleep in the following day... bliss...

For me the perfect weekend is my son being a perfect angel, and some sort of vacation. Beach, Italy, Spain? It doesn't matter as long as it is beautiful and everyone in my "family" loves it. Being able to sleep in like I did all day today was great too.
Mmmm - at home, browsing through a couple of antique shops, a quiet walk around the falls hand in hand with hubby, dinner at Happy's Chinese, and finally a double feature at the Drive Inn. Oh - with all the kids at the babysitters, for sure. We ARE talking ideal, yes?
An ideal weekend away from home would be to someplace scenic, someplace that people won't frown if the kids get a little crazy (the beach, camping in the mountains, etc.) and NO ONE GETS SICK. Yep - would have a GREAT time!
The perfect weekend for me would start by not getting out of bed till at least 10am. Then my time would be spent either blogging, reading, or watching a movie (or two). I'm a def home-body...can ya tell?!
My idea of the perfect weekend is having the opportunity to sleep in at some point. The kids would be happy and not whiny, and my hubby and I would have some time to ourselves! Kick back and watch a couple of movies - or better yet - get a sitter and go to dinner and a movie. Spending time with friends is always a great weekend.
Thanks, all of you for these tremendous answers. I would love to do many of the ideas that you've put through. You all have a great sense of the ideal.
Fuzzbuck, I'll visit your blog and see if I can e mail the answer. Yes, Blogger do supply this. With it, people can be anonymous if they really want, but it zaps the spammers.
Family, friends, outdoor party, sunshine, seafood, beer...fun.
