This week, TWQ (The Weekend Question) is asking about the sorts of items that people collect.
Throughout your life, what sort of things have you collected? What are you collecting now?
My answers are:
1: American DC magazines. In the late 1960's to midway through the 1970's, I collected all variations of magazines connected with Superman & Batman. At the time, they existed in Action Comics, Adventure Comics, Brave & The Bold, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Detective Comics, Supergirl, Legion of Super Heroes, as well as those under their own name.
2: From the early 1970's, for some time I collected American Mad Magazines. At first, I could only get the British edition, but managed to subscribe to the superior American version.
3: British comics of the 1960's, like Dandy, Beano, Beezer, Topper, Sparky. Some of them would be deemed politically incorrect now!
4: I have a good collection of Royal Doulton bone china.
5: Nowadays, I tend to collect a lot of books and novels.
Now it's over to you...

Hi Jean-Luc, Michele sent me to check out the TWQ this weekend.....
hmm - what do I collect?
Well, teddy bears, for one. I have dozens over them bought or given to me over the years. Teddies, dogs, cats, dragons and characters.
And still I add to my collection :-)

Hi Michele sent me.
I now collect a china that bears my last name. I have hundreds of pieces, it's becoming a problem!
Have a great weekend.
I have a huge collections of comics from my youth.
I think all that I collect now is bills, though...
I collect books and music.
I also collect finger rings.
Michele sent me here to return your visit!
Well, let me see.
Right now I have more computers than anything (we currently have 7), so that might constitute a collection.
I collect mess, does that count? I have quite a bit of that.
Cats? I have 3.
Oh! I know! I have a collection of military coins (they are coins that military staff hand out to people that represent either their unit or position within that unit). I have probably a couple of dozen.
I don't tend to be a collector of anything in particular, my tastes lean to the eclectic. :D

When I was younger I collected coins and stamps. While living in Europe I collected old railroad lanterns and David Winter Cottages. Now it seems I mostly collect dust.
Hi! Here via Michele.
I collected baseball cards when I was young. Now, I don't really collect anything that I can think of, unless you include the twenty or so specialty condiments sitting in my fridge barely used.
I used to collect women, you know like those pictured in Startrek. (exotic, oppulent,well-travelled.)
Women that could command a Starfleet and yet still obey commands from an experience voyeur like myself.
You gotta love Euroyank! :)
Well... I don't actually collect much of anything. I have more of a "streamline" mentality".
However, my Grammy collected certain Life magazines. They were similar to, say, Vanity Fair - but with more of a newsy twist, and were published in the 50s and 60s - maybe on into the 70s. I have the ones she saved: Marilyn Monroe on the cover with a retrospective of her life - published right after she died; same with JFK, and later Robert Frost; the first moon landing - cool cover shot.
Great topic, jlp!
I was collecting rare incurable diseases, but then the Centre For Disease Control found out and confiscated them all. Now I'm colecting dragons (real live ones). I have a Red and a Green and an Asian Serpent so far.
My husband collects one and two as well! I knew I liked you.
I collect teddy bears , all things corvid, and Darth Vader items.
happy new year Captain.
Bridget collects sliding-down-fireman's-poles moments ;)
And good memories for when the night is dark and beautiful poems for when love has stolen its way in her heart.
An excellent post! I collect executive desktop commercial aviation models (Pan Am), airline coffee mugs, CD's and biography books with some Steve McQueen memorabilia.
Collections? When I was younger, I used to collect stamps from different countries. I got bored with that and went to collecting coins from different countries. Got bored with it too but still have a few kept. Then I went to collecting ballpens with logo. At present, I don't collect anything. Don't have the time to do it.
I've always loved books and collected those. When the children were young I got lots of really nice childrens books that were special and we looked at together. I've kept them for when we have children around again.
I collect hand thrown pottery.
And still I love the books and collect those.
Comics , and I also collected Action figuers
I truly enjoy TWQ's.
When I was younger I enjoyed stamp collecting. Preferably foreign.
Now I collect:
Angels, fairies, cookbooks, British comedies and anything to do with Maximillian Schell. Call me strange. :o)
Ooops, I forgot to say thank you for the well wishes and I wish you a nice relaxing weekend.
Take care.
Other than dust, you mean??
I actually have a very nice collection of tea pots that line the top of the cupboards in the kitchen. I think, though, that this Christmas was the first one in quite some time that I didn't get a single tea pot to add to my collection.
I also collect elephants and have quite the number of them stampeding around the house!
Hi, Captain!
I collect Enya CD's. My goal is to eventually have on CD (or cassette, as there is one piece she only did on cassette) every song she's ever done.
I also collect book marks. In wood, metal, leather, silver etc etc.
Michele sent me back again!
What rich and varied tastes yiou do have. Drom what you've said, like Jaime I have a collection of Enya CDs. I also collect dust.
When I was young, I had a small stamp collection as well. I also have a collection of Royal Doulton bone china.
Holly, your grammy's Life magazines must be valuable.
Hey Jean-Luc, I'm back via Michele :-)
As I mentioned on my blog a few weeks ago, I also collect t'shirts - from all over the world.
:-)
cq
- snowglobes as a kid - are in a box now, cause too much of a hasle to dust and some of them are awefull

Now what else?
Pencil stubs and erasures. Crazy, don't you think?
At this rate, if Michele keeps sending me here, you will know all my secrets!
Besides music?
Nightmare Before Christmas memorabilia
Shot Glasses from various places that I've been.
Coke Bear ornaments
Have a great weekend :)
I collect books, paper fans, Tom Clark Gnomes, hand-carved wooden figurines, frogs and people.....LOL
I was hoping to collect Jean-Luc Picard comments on my blog, but it seems he is in the 24th Century and only stops by his blog when a worm hole is available! So now I will have to collect nothing from Jean-Luc Picard (which also is something!)
Nowadays all I am collecting is blog friends. The best collection of it all!
Michele knows that too...:D
