This week, TWQ (The Weekend Question) asks about those phrases that annoy you.
What irritating phrases and cliches really annoy you?
My answers are:
1: To be honest.
2: Let's face it.
3: At the end of the day.
(or even worse)
4: All three of the above coming one after the other.
Now it's over to you...
30 comments:
1. It is what it is.
2. Sweet!
Jean Luc: you pinched all the best ones:)
1. No I never received it.
2. We're fully booked I'm afraid.
3. There's no demand for it.
Michele says Hi!
Oh probably those aren't quite cliches - more irritating phrases.
How about 'There's a lot of it about.'?
No problem;
I'll give it a go.
Have a nice day!
And Felicitations - today I'm visiting via Michele!

Working in the web hosting and design business, I get especially tired of the following:
-- My email isn't working (my least favorite).
-- I made some changes to my site and now it's broken. Can you take a look at my code? (normally they want me to do it for free).
-- I just want a simple, 5-page site - can you get that done by tomorrow?
And, to be honest, let's face it, at the end of the day, I'm just freaking tired of all the stupid people. ;D

Whatever will be will be.
At this moment in time....
"Can I just say?"
If you're going to say whatever it is that you want to say anyway, why ask first?
Unfortunately I'm a frequent user of "To be honest.", but only in answers to work-related questions.
The most irritating:
"At the present time we are experiencing a high call volume than usual"
which translates:
we don't have enough damn help on hand to answer the damn phone!
OOPS,forget to say, Hello, Michele sent me to answer your really interesting question today!!!
but yet
irregardless
ooooh you struck a nerve LOL!
Have a great weekend!
"Whatever" (though, I'm guilting of saying that one on occasion - sarcastically :))
"I know! Right?"
"Better late than never"
The annoying phrase?
"Make it so!"
JK, Captain!
"No pun intended."
Really? I think you did intend that pun and you said no pun intended to draw attention to it.
* You know (over and over again.)
*Whatever
* I'll take care of that. (If this is said by anyone in the customer service industry, it usually means nothing will be done.) Grrr....
What the hell!
Damn you!
Hardly ever..
These and a few more.
I detest people who use the F word all the time..
You know who sent me here..
You've all reminded me of a wide range of phrases and cliches that annoy me intensely. 'Whatever' must rank high on the chart!
Lansy, that was a sneaky, saying 'make it so.'
let me think..
what do you mean?
Never mind..
that's about it all...
Michele sent me...LOL!
Again I got here from Michele.
This, too, shall pass.
Man, you want me to see red? That phrase gets me every time.
Michele sent me today, Jean-Luc. Thanks for letting me vent a bit!
1. Whatever
2. Get over it.
3. I could care less (which is more of a grammatical error as the person really should be saying "I couldn't care less" meaning you've reached the bottom as far as caring - this one drives me nuts!)
"Whatever" and "cya" top my list without question.
Those are all good, I mean, bad!
How about
"More ..... Than you can shake a stick at."
"non stop thrill ride"
"how to make money online!"
"you made it your own"
"you're fired"
"Actually, ...."
Not exactly a cliché, but they are totally annoying two words.
Human Resources
I mean what are Human Resources, what was wrong with Administration?
I thought I'd pop by and tell you there is a post I did on my photoblog that you might enjoy, Captain. ;)

So many excruitiating phrases! I seem to hear a lot of them every day!
To be honest, Captain, I can't think of any.
