TWQ: Quirks

This week, TWQ (The Weekend Question) looks at the odd quirks of our personalities that make up who we are.

What strange quirks do you have that make up your personality? List as many as you wish.

My answers are:

1: Sometimes, instead of laughing, I say what Mork used to say in the early 'Mork & Mindy' shows: "Ah, humour!! Ark! Ark!"

2: If for some reason my routine is changed, it get's me very disoriented.

3: I love to play air guitar when Thin Lizzy's 'Whisky In The Jar' is playing.

4: Once an actor or tv personality gets on my list of 'can't stand them', I'll never see that film or tv programme, even if it is supposed to be good.

Now it's over to you....

But before you go...

I have a large number of expressions from old-time TV and radio programs that I often use in conversation instead of ... well ... saltier things. My most common ones are "What a revoltin' development THIS is!" (from the old show "The Life of Riley" and "Great Caesar's ghost!" (not quite sure where that one came from).

Hi Jean-Luc,

Michele sent me here today to say hello :-)

I have so many personality quirks it would take me all day to list them. :-)
I'm a bit of a control freak and am very neurotic.

Good to see you again, my dear :-)

Hi, Michele sent me.

I'm very open... I reveal far too much of myself - both on my blog, and when answering questions like this.

1. Hmmmmm... nope, almost never quote Mork and Mindy, except to say Nanu Nanu occasionally...
2. I'm with you on this one.
3. I don't know Thin Lizzy's version, but I sing along with the 60's version by The Seekers. Does that count?

Michele sent me today,
N.

Hi there, Michele sent me over.

I think I do some pretty quirky things, but the particularly quirky thing is that I can't think of anything right now.

Have a super day.

Good day! Michelle didn't send me, I came on my own!

I don't know if you'd call them quirks per say but I use a lot of my grandmother's old expressions like "oh for cat's sake!" and "I feel like Death eating a cracker" and "that's odder than two sticks"!

I quote movies like "Blazing Saddles" and "Gone With the Wind" a lot, too. Actually, I use a lot of quotes from a lot of things it seems!

By the by, I've been checking out Blogrush, just not sure if I'm going to sign up yet or not as I'm almost afraid to add something else to my sidebar!

Now how do I list my quirks? Too many of those. In a nutshell, I am crazy!

Glad to be here from Michele after so long.

Hi Jean-Luc,
Great question. I am the Queen of Quirks. I'll just list a few.

*I too get thrown off course easily when my plans have been altered.

*I will not answer the phone. I keep the ringer turned off so I cannot hear it even ring. I will have my husband check at the end of the day for messages.

*I have space issues. I do not like people getting within so many feet of me. That is with strangers only.

Have a great weekend, Capt. Picard

1: I never wear a watch or I get all OCD about time and clocks
2: (ties in to #1) all the clock in my house have to be set at slightly diffrent time or I get all OCD about the clock being the set at the same time)

not much else

Whenever I get a fresh package of wieners I always freeze one. Then when my 'roids pop out and I can pack them back in and the cold helps alleviate and itching or burning. I only use the Hebrew National all beef franks.

Shouldn't the clocks be all set at the same time, AOC? I'd go crazy that they're not all on the right time. :-)

Let's see, I liberally quote from Simpsons and movies in my conversations.

I am a very friendly and funny person, but I have a tough time meeting people and remembering names is the toughest thing for me.

My biggest quirk is I suppose I hate all of my personality traits in others, if that makes any sense at all.
I can never decide on stuff but then again I am you typical librain. I am with you on 2 as well, it's the sure fire way to annoy me, Especially if the boss say oh your going somewhere to do something and I go "oh really" or something and it's "attitude" is it bollox, no-one tells me how else am I expected to react!
3 Air guitar to a few muse tracks :D

Great quirks!

Linda has touched on one I do. I quote a lot of 'Blazing Saddles' as well, such as "It can't be more than 114!" or "Let's send Mongo"

Hello, Michele sent me. And I will be back!

What can I say, I seem to have a unique sense of humour at times as people often don't 'get me'. I also like to mispronounce words to make them funny. This ties in with my first point.

Michele sent me over to say hi.

I'm a relentless movie-quoter. "Put the kendle BECK!" is one of my favorites.

Checking out Blog Rush. I'm really pissed off at Blog Explosion... what a mess that has become.

Two great traffic builders are:

It seems a lot of us quote old movies and shows. Can any of you quote a show from the last 10 yrs? I know I never do....
I always wear hats crooked on my head, tilted to the right, without thinking about it. I have a twisted smile too, when something strikes me as funny but it isn't appropriate to laugh. Seems like my right side is more expressive than the left.

i have practically memorized the entire script for princess bride, grease 2 and singin' in the rain. don't know why but i often find instances where it is apt to say things like, "inconceivable", "hamlet was tormented by his mother's incestuous relationship with his uncle"...hahaha!

btw, michele says hi! ;)

It's so funny that this is your TWQ...I have a half-finished draft right now about personality quirks! I have a zillion, I think, but some of them are:
I buy toilet paper EVERY TIME I go to the store, whether I need it or not.
I will not eat lunchmeat that has been open for more than two days.
I like to mute the TV and try to read their lips, and do the dialogue myself.

Also? I've been using a blogrush widget, and it keeps cutting off the bottom part even though I've re-installed it several times. Any ideas on how to fix that?

quirks? maybe annoying features more likely:

- hate it when people leave cupboards open after getting things
- am known for being able to drink a lot of coffee without becoming nervous
- when a tv show I really like is on or an old movie - I am deaf to the world around me
- I smile at people on the subway... when they look into my eyes - people are far to depressed when on the metro - like to change that one person at a time

Jean-Luc Picard said...

Good collection of quirks.

Fab, I know what you mean about seeing a movie I like or tv programme.

Monty, you must have a lot of toilet paper!

Tim, I should think LOTR has a lot of good quotes such as 'Precious.'

Panthergirl, "Put the kendle BECK!" is a hilarious quote.

I'll look at those traffic sites.
