TWQ: Favourite TV Episodes

This week, TWQ (The Weekend Question) asks about the best episodes of a tv series you've seen.

Can you tell what are your favourite episodes of any tv series? List as many as you like. Say why the are the best.

My answers are:

Star Trek TNG: "The Inner Light" A classic story, with Picard living 40 years in 20 minutes

Enterprise: "In A Mirror Darkly, Parts I & II". Set in the mirroe universe, this is a unique story.

Stargate SG1: "Unending." This final episode was an excellent homage to the series.

Only Fools & Horses: "The Jolly Boys Outing." This feature length edition of the British comedy series show all the characters at their peak.

Steptoe & Son: "Any Old Iron." This black & white edition from the late sixties of the British comedy series is hilarious.

The Phil Silvers Show: This edition, where Bilko and his troop think they are in a singing contest, but are actually in a scientific booth to test the effect of killer bees is too funny to describe.

Now it's over to you...

But before you go...

As mentioned in the previous post, you can see an interview with myself at Blog Interviewer.Com While you are there, you can vote for your favourite blog for the month (cough, cough!)

Um... do you know I really can't think of any favourite episodes off the top of my ead though I certainly have favourite TV shows and it is true that I enjoy some episodes more than others. I hate any of the 'low budget' episodes where it's mostly set around flashbacks.

Lets see:
I really enjoyed the episodes of DS9 where they were at war with Odo'd people. I also liked most of the new Battlestra Gallactica though I didn't enjoy the ones where they were on New Caprica.

Will that do?

Farscape: "Green eyed monster" was a very good episode, because Talyn played such a major part in it (the ship - Leviathan)

The Inner Light was outstanding (TNG - Star Trek)

Enterprise: well any episode with Trip is a ball! Or the docter ... but the one I'll always remember is when the Captain's dog got sick.

Voyager: again if the doctor was the lead, I favoured the episode.

When Doctor Who met Shakespeare.

...Hmm...

Its really difficult for me to have favourite episodes of series, and to be truthful I'm not very good at watching a whole series anyway. Now there are more 2-3 parters I stand a better chance to see them.

I'd probably have to go down the series route instead and say I've enjoyed some of Spooks, Life on Mars and Dr Who's recent-ish series (some lumpiness in the last set).

Here today via Michele's - Hiya!

ST TNG Datas Day it was funny and just classic Data

ST DS9 Move Along Home, just to see Kira singing nursery rhymes and dancing, when all we'd seen of her was the tough freedom fighter.

Though just about any DS9 were great, it was my fave ST.

CSI anything with Grissom in it, especially when he throws clues as to who he really is.

Dinner Ladies, I love this for it's northen womens humour, and yes I do know some women who are like the the characters. Not naming names though!

This is w;here my mind famously goes blank - even blanker then usual - but there is 'Fools and Horses' where Delboy leans against the bar which has disappeared and of course the chandelier one. Priceless!
Mr Darcy's wet shirt in 'Pride and Prejudice'.
'Dad's Army' where Captain Manwaring says 'don't tell him your name Kite!'
and Richard Kildare - dying in 'Portrait of a Lady' when he tells the heroine she may not have been loved but she's been adored - adored. That's me done ! Michele says hi!

One of my favorite TNG eps was the one where the scorpion-like parasites were taking over Starfleet flag officers and Picard and Riker had to stop them. It had some good action and coming after a series of more cerebral episodes, it felt different and edgy.

One of the best Farscapes was towards the end when Chriton finally figures out the wormholes and he flies to the moon, calls his dad, and tells him that he has to go back to his friends. The Scarran/Peacekeeper war was brewing and it was such a strong moment that it really made the episode.

ST:TOS - I always liked The Enterprise Incident. Not sure why.

ST:TNG - I'm with you - The Inner Light is my favorite.

Quantum Leap - The Leap Home - such a wonderful, bittersweet episode.

Lost - so far, it's the third season's finale episode.

I'm sure I could think of more...

My favourite X-Files episode is the one where Scully gets abducted by Greys who dress her up in a nurse's uniform and conduct experiments to see what happens when they spank her with a table-tennis bat.

Just because.

Why is it I always hear Capt. Picard's voice when I read this blog? I don't remember titles well but I liked the TNG when they journey back to earth's 20th century San Francisco. Probably because of the Mark Twain character. For the original series, the Botany Bay and the movie sequel. Like most of the Voyager series, they seemed to get better as the characters developed.

Some good choices there. I should have added the Dr Who story 'The Family Of Blood'.

I agree with Jana that Quantum Leap: The Leap Home was a good one. The Lost second and third season finales were both good.

I really enjoyed the season finale of Heroes. It had a bit of a different feel to it than most shows.
TNG I don't know the name of the episode, but there was a game of poker, and later complete destruction of the ship, which then happened in a loop over and over. Data saved the day. Gotta love time travel and paradox situations!

I like that episode of SG-1 where they get stuck in a time loop and O'Neil sends a golf ball through the wormhole. That one's pretty funny.

Almost all epis of Family Guy but in particular the one in which Stewie and Brian go to Europe.....

I am partial to Mudds Women. The old Star Trek series. Love those skimpy lil outfits.

Flik, I like that Stargate episode as well.

Tim, I believe that episode is called 'Cause and Effect.'

Better late than never...

1. ST:TNG episodes "Inner Light" (seems to be a favorite of many) and "The Best of Both Worlds," Parts 1 and 2.

2. ST:TOS episode "The Trouble with Tribbles."

3. Mission: Impossible episodes "Old Man Out" (about breaking an imprisoned cardinal out of an escape-proof prison) and "The Train" (in which the IMF stages an elaborate deception to prove to a dying leader that his designated successor is not to be trusted).

4. Almost any of the old "Avengers" series starring Patrick Macnee and Diana Rigg.

Almost forgot:

Two episodes from The Twilight Zone: "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" (a cautionary tale about mass hysteria), and "Time Enough at Last" (a wonderful story with a bitter twist, starring Burgess Meredith).

Bilbo.
