TWQ: James Bond Films

With a new James Bond film out, TWQ (The Weekend Question) looks at Agent 007.

What has been your favourite scene in a James Bond movie? If you have more than one, list them.

My answers are:

1: In Goldfinger, when Bond is on the industrial laser, Goldfinger says "No Mr Bond, I expect you to die!"

2: In On Her Majesty's Secret Service, the scenes as 'We Have All The Time In The World' by Louis Armstrong is being played.

Now it's over to you...

But before I go....

Here is a second showing of the Christmas Party Invitation. Note that the deadline for sending them in has been increased to Friday night 1st December.

This is your official invitation to the Enterprise Christmas Party that starts on Monday 4th December!

What I'm asking you to do is write a short post of what happens from your viewpoint at the party. It will be then published in the Journal.

These are the rules to remember:

1: The post is from YOUR viewpoint only. You can involve Enterprise characters, plus other known races and figures, such as the Romulans, the Borg, Q, Lwaxana Troi, Seven, Jadzia Dax, Karena or make some up yourself. You can even include some bloggers that are likely to be there (see my Guest Quarters' list on my blog).

2: There is the guest Borg band (The Strolling Bones) to consider; remember the Borg will be doing the catering as well. You are only limited by your imagination!

3: The length should be whatever you consider suitable.

4: Remember this is a family-friendly Journal, so take heed of what you write.

5: In accordance with Rule 4, I reserve the right to trim entries or not to publish them if I consider them unsuitable.

6: The closing date for entries is Friday 1st December.

7: Send your entries to: Captain Picard (wibblywebb-1@yahoo.co.uk) marking your entry 'Enterprise Christmas Party'. The E Mail address is also under 'Secure Channel' on my Journal page.

8: Don't forget to include your blog ID and your blog address so you can be credited.

9: If I get a substantial number of entries, I will be doing several posts together, to be changed daily from the 4th December onwards.

10: For any of those unsure of what their entry should look like, read some examples from last year's party in the December archives week commencing 5th December.

Good luck, everybody!

There is something strange about it to begin with...! I am going to look at yours now!

Hmmmmm. It doesn't look as nice...Harder for me to see and read with the Red Background...

I may just not renew this, if I have to have Neo2....Thanks for asking and also for letting me know it is not as good now.

Goldfinger is the first Bond movie I saw. I was at a friend's house for a sleepover and when Bond sprayed oil on the ground to elude his persuers, I said out ooud "How crude." I got a good laugh out of that.

Another scene that really strikes me is when Bond fights an assasion on a train in From Russia With Love. FRWL was the second Bond film made and the assasin was supposedly Bond's equal in every way, but working for the bad guys. There wasn't a lot of spectacular gadgets and stunts -- just a trick briefcase and some fight scenes. It's interesting to see how the movies evolved from that.

I always like the end scene when James and the Bond girl have a romantic cuddle having escaped dozens of death attempts.

I've always enjoyed the James Bond flicks. If nothing else, I enjoy the action. It's not something that makes me think too hard. I'm just along for the ride.

Michele sent me! Hope you are having a wonderful day!

Michele sent me over, Captain Picard.

I vaguely remember liking some of the early Bond films but I can't remember any specific scenes. The films of the last 15 years have been too filled with gadgets to be really entertaining. I've not seen this new film but I suspect it's the first one in a long time that I'll like. I hope they keep this back to basics trend going!

Too many Bond scenes to pick a favorite, but I have to say I liked the last Brosnan movie after he was freed from captivity and his own people didn't trust him and he had to escape from them too. I don't remember much of that movie because I've been trying to forget Halle Berry's part in it. Can't wait to see Daniel Craig as Bond.

I love this blog, I stop by every day looking for new posts.

Moonraker: The boat chase scenes in Venice and Brazil.

James Bond....what can I say? He's one of the yummiest humans I've ever seen -- and he would have made an outstanding Sith. Caught transmissions of the most recent Bond film "Casino Royale" and thoroughly enjoyed it. There are several memorable scenes in it, but will not quote them here. :D

Jean Luc - I have a bad memory, but I know I love the films.

It's interesting, but like me, many of you favourite recollections of the older movies with Connery in, rather than the more modern ones.

I've never been a huge Bond fan - I know, heresy! But I find the whole series somewhat formulaic and predictable.

Still, when I was a kid, Moonraker fascinated me with its fairly detailed scenes of space shuttle launches - long before the actual shuttle first flew.

Michele sent me this morning, Jean Luc....And I still haven't got a clue about what to write...Not being that familiar with the 'cast of characters'....Sorry about that.

Hi from Michele's.....I'm afraid I was never a Bond fan either. (I know...shame on me!) But I've seen parts of a few of the movies...Diamonds are Forever was one. I DO know I loved Sean Connery....in my opinion, he was THEE one and only real Bond.

Dear Jean-Luc,
Why didn't you and Dr. Crusher ever get together? There was so much chemistry between you two!

Here via Michele's.

My favourite scene is where there is a fight and the room gets trashed and bond says Ill leave you to clear up, and walks out. Can't remember what bond film, or which actor though.

My favourite bond is Pearce Brosnon.

Looking forward to your party Jean - luc.
