TWQ (The Weekend Question) asks about people you may have encountered...
Who is the most famous person you have ever met? By all means name more than one if you wish.
My answers are:
The famous people I have met have generally been on the streets of London. My parents and I could not find a theatre, so we picked someone to ask, who turned out to be the actor Timothy West! On another occasion, in Hatchards' bookshop in Piccadilly, we talked to the globetrotter Alan Whicker, and got his autograph.
Now it's over to you...

I'm afriad there are too many to choose from as I used to work in professional theatre. The ones that immediately spring to mind are Michael Ball, Ben Elton, Russ Abbott, Brian Cant, Vanessa Redgrave, Danny Le Rue and Simon Callow.
Here fro Michele's today.
Famous people.....uhm...I've gotten to meet one of our state senators...Roger Madigan. I think that's the best I can do.

Gee, I don't know. When I was a kid, I got to meet several sport greats (Arnold Palmer, Sonny Jergeson and Roman Gaberiel--both Quarterbacks in the NFL, and Meadowlark Lemon). As an adult, I've meet at least five Senators and a few Representatives. Here from Michele's
I've met John Lodge, Graeme Edge (partied a bit with him...ok a lot with him) and Justin Hayward of The Moody Blues, Dennis DeYoung from Styx, Eddie Izzard, Elvis Costello, several of the guys from Whose Line Is It Anyway (US cast...Brad Sherwood for one), Peter Noone and Gary Puckett
I left a comment, but I don't think it stuck. I met John F. Kennedy when he was running for president in 1960.
Prince Charles, when I was studying in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Frank McCourt (author of Angela's Ashes)....at a writers conference.
Visiting here from Michele's....
Someone quite well known who I've had lunch with is a Mr Gates from a well known organisation in Redmond.
I used to work in a 5 star hotel so have met lots of famous people...one of my favourites from that time would have to be Billy Connelly - he was totally outrageous.
Michele says hi and I say Happy New Year!
I have alot to mention but I usually ignore them when I see them. Anywya, here from Michele and Happy New Year to you!
What a lot of famous people.....
I can't claim to such famous meetings.
Actual meetings (as in speech etc) were English actors Geoffrey Palmer and Matthew Kelly.
What wonderful men - both kind and considerate and selfless.

Michele sent me, Jean-Luc
Wow--I have very few exciting stories to tell on that front. I think the most famous person I met was Bob Dole in the lobby of the Capitol Building in DC on a tour there. It was right before he was going to run against Bill Clinton for president, so he was only too happy to stop for a picture and a handshake. Yeah, I know, that's sad. I'm crossing my fingers that changes.
I'm used to meeting and talking to musicians, but the "Most famous" one I've met so far is vocalist Jeff Keith from the band Tesla. Can't say I've met anyone else famous outside of music, though!
Where should I start?
Sports figures: I knew the head of security for the Cowboys when they had training camp here in Austin so I went out with several of them dancing, to parties, etc. I got to know them fairly well over 3 years. So here they are in no particular order of the ones I knew best:
Troy Aikman, Chad Hennings, Emmit Smith, Daryl Johnston, Charles Haley, Rodney Peete, Darren Woodson, Nate Newton, Michael Irvin and I dated Kevin Gogan briefly.
Movies:
Hope Floats - I was an extra and I and my dance partner helped to "teach" Harry Connick Jr and Sandra Bullock to dance when they came out to Austin to practice.
Quentin Tarantino, Mike Judge (lives in Austin) and Robert Rodriguez (has a home in Austin) - my ex used to work for a rifle range and Quentin, Mike and Rick would come in every SXSW to shoot (pretty bad if I do say so myself) and I was invited to Quentin's party one year.
Music:
Little Texas - i was in their music video for "Amy's Back in Austin", Tracy Byrd, Toby Keith, Mark Chestnut, Neal McCoy.
Rich - Michael Dell. In the 90's I dated an engineer of his whose father is the VP for Dell in Ireland and Western Europe and he knew Michael Dell very well.
That's all I can think of right now, though I know there are more.
Hillary Clinton
I met Daniel Day Lewis and served him a double expresso. He was clad in tight leather and was biking over to Spain. What a sight to make a poor waitresses day
;o)
/sigh..
No one.
I haven't met anyone famous, though Tom Cruise did call up the office I was working in when he was filming in our area, but I wasn't the one that answered the phone.
I did, however, get an up-close look at the Saxon Horse and Rider they found on Lakenheath. Does he count?
I have never met personally famous persons, if you mean movie actors and actresses. Never got the chance to meet any. The most famous person I have met is my dad. He was famous wherever he went. He was famous among his peers. He was famous amongst us his children. I think this would suffice.
I met Damon Wayan's once (American comedian) he was really nice. Many years ago I met Emilio Estavez when he was making a movie with Demi Moore, though Demi Moore wouldn't condescend to meet anyone, she apparently was too good for the rest of us. Oh, I also met Lou Diamond Phillips during the whole "Brat Pack" phase too. Nice guy.
Before he became "McDreamy" on Grey's Anatomy, Patrick Demsey was filming a pilot right in front of the place I worked. Jennifer Grey was in the scene too, but I didn't chance to meet either one of them. Darnit.
In October, my wife and kid and I got to shake hands with Chicago Mayor Richard Daly.
Many years ago, Michelle Pfeifer was in the area filming a movie. She took her kids to a fest that I and a couple friends were at. We kept taking my friend's kid to the same rides as she was taking her kids to.
In high school, Pat Hurley spoke at the school. I got to meet him and get his autograph.
In college, I was a roadie for a band that opened for Head East.
I think I met Evel Kenevil, too.
hmmm...famous people? i've met the lead singer of Godsmacks family... they were friends of my buddies. umm... dolly, and slyvester stalone( i know i spelled it wrong so sue me) they're real nice, wish i could meet em again.
Michele sent me back to tell you that I also got to meet Luciano Pavarotti during my hotel days!
When I asked if you had met any famous people, I didn't expect to get such a vast array of stars. You have all seen so many!
Mornin' Capt! Coming back from Michele's to suggest you next ask about those infamous folks we've met!
well I met Larry Gowan ( Canadian musician) many many times, David Prowse ( the highlight of any star wars fan's life), Ted Raimi,Brian Thompson ( very cool guy), Author Richard Peck, Robertson Davies, the guys from Great Big Sea, Rick Mercer, ( most of the big Newfoundland performers...)
This also depends a lot on your definition of famous...
all my encounters have been incredibly positive.
xxs and oos
Merly
I ran into Andre Aggasi once. I was in New York for a weeding and was walking down the hotel hallway, turned a corner, and ran right smack into him. I didn't know who he was by my cousins did and were speachless. Other than that, my Uncle is a TV producer and has a ton of famous friends. His wife, my Aunt, dated a senator and the drummer for America back in the day.
Well whilst I was ice skating I saw a bunch of ice skaters who would later the perform at the London New Year's peformance. They were terrible.
Oh and I once met a football player and shook his hand.
Robin.
Hi,
Michele sent me back. So I'll add Dennis Waterman, Felicity Kendal, Lesley Joseph and Tommy Steele to the list.
I met Jimmy Barnes, Aussie rock legend, in a nightclub. Does that count?
Barry Bonds went to my high school, I meet President Jimmy Carter at a book convention, Neil Young was in the lost luggage line in front of me and turned and said "can you belive they lost MY luggage".
I can't believe I forgot this...
I went to the 30th anniversary Star Trek convention in Huntsville, AL, and I met Nichelle Nichols at a backstage event (and saw the other TOS actors in the crowd...including Chekov dancing) I got autographs from several others as well.
Catching up with past posts. Aside from a couple of famous cousins whom I've mentioned on my blog, I have met Senator Barry Goldwater and been nearly run over by Nick Nolte at the San Antonio Riverwalk.
I met Timothy West too once, on Oxford High Street, in 1994 I guess. I'd just emerged from my last Finals exam, and made one of those, "hey, I recognise you.." faces. He smiled benignly. Seemed a nice bloke.
On the Trek theme, I met Leonard Nimoy once, and pestered him to autograph some Star Trek memorabilia, when he was actually there to talk about his film about fighting holocaust denial...
