TWQ: Theme Park Rides

For this week's TWQ (The Weekend Question), we are going to the theme park! Hope you've paid your entrance money!

You are now in a theme park. Which rides will you go to first, and which ones will you avoid at all costs, and why. Say as many as you wish.

My answers are:

Go to first:

Nowadays it might be the roller coaster, or river raft. When I was a child, it was the ghost train.

Avoid:

Anything that could invoke dizziness. When I was very young, I went in a revolving room, where we sat on a bench and the room around revolved. I was green afterwards and felt really ill.

Now it's over to you...

I'm afraid I've never been to a theme park so I have no idea. I would like to go on a roller coaster sometime though. Just to see what it's like.

Michele sent me to play.

Hi Jean-Luc :-) Michele and I wondered what the TWQ was this weekend...

[holds out park tokens]
Log flume first please - anything with water and 'boats' gets my vote. I love the log flume, even the gentle careening along the flat.

[puts other tokens in safely in pocket]
No rollercoasters please. I lose consciousness on them. I have an inner ear imbalance and it affects how my brain understands the messages of being 'upside down'.
I went into a 3D cinema as a test, and as the rollercoaster in the film inverted, I just slipped into unconsciousness right there and then on the floor.

I get car sick on the bus, so a theme park is a no go area.

I never liked the fun fairs when I was a child either, apart from trying to win a gold fish!

He lived for years by the way!

I always go for the scariest looking things first. Like the roller coaster or some 1000ft drop thing. Thats so that I can get it out of the way and enjoy the rest of my day. Otherwise I'll have to keep deciding if I should go on them.

I never go on the ghost trains. Don't really like being spooked.

Michele sent me back to consider what I would like to go on. I think I would like the big wheel. It's a great way of taking the whole scene in adn if I had my camera I would hopefully get some good shots!

I love the ferris wheel, water rides, and those "pretend you're tiny and travel through the body" trolley rides... I'm such a nerd...

I will never go on a roller coaster... When I was at Six Flags in Chicago as a teen, my cousin pointed up at the roller coaster just as it rounded a corner and jumped off the tracks. It landed back on track safely, but it spooked me for life.

I would go on any rollercoaster. The meaner the better.

Second favorite is the pirate ship (big thing that rocks back and forth.) Luv that feeling.

I would avoid anything that just spins, including the carousel.

I go for the wavespinner first which is like a huge swing and the coasters.

I avoid anything that's too much of a thrill though.

Roller Coaster, please. The bigger the better. Make it with a couple of inversions or straight up and down! Have spent entire days riding nothing but coasters!

A fun weekend question!

Michele sent me to say that the Ghost train or haunted house is still my favorite part of a theme park.

I would avoid the merry go round because I'm not merry & don't really care about going round

The last time we were at an amusement park, Kiera (at 5) and I went on all the water rides and the Whizzer roller coaster. It's a smaller one and I haven't been on a larger roller coaster in years.

Geez, that's tough--I think it depends upon my "strategy" upon arrival. Sometimes I'll head toward the most frightening thing in the park, and other times, I'll "build up" to that point.

I'll avoid as many things as I can that twist the rider upside down, though.

I'd probably go on something sedate, and avoid rollercoasters at all costs.

I enjoyed the Superman Roller coaster, And the haunted one s are funny

The one I avoide is the really tame Roller coter that all it did was go backwards on a track then forwards , then back again, that thing was boring.

I avoid amusement parks, but if I went to one, I'd be hanging out in the kiddie rides :)

I had years and years of roller coasters. Now, I would head to a show or exhibit of some kind. I generally wait while the kids ride the thrill rides.

I would walk around the park FIRST to see what awesome exciting blow my hair off my head rides there are!

I would first go on the one that suspends you in a body suit and you can ride by yourself, or with others... I would go alone.

They raise you UP up up in a bungie type of apparatus and WAY high they'd count down and then you'd DROP twords the earth at lightening speed!

Screaming all the way and giggling like a mad woman!

Then I'd hit all of the tall rolly coasters working my way down.

As for the spinners... naw, not me.

Hugs!

Roller coasters are either liked a lot or not at all. We all have our favourites. I liked the ferris wheel and the more genteel rides when I was younger. I got soaked last time I went on a water ride.

Welcome to those who haven't commented before. Please do so in the future!

Does it have to be an amusement park? Becasue I want to go on the ultimate Ferris Wheel - The London Eye!

Michele sent me back to play again :)

I'm with craziequeen: log fume rides are great, as long as you don't mind getting wet, and I can't stand roller coasters. I also don't like things like mirror mazes...I got lost in one as a child and am terrified of them to this day.

rashbre said...

Hmm. The wet rides are great fun, as long as the weather is OK. Its important to look suitably drenched when walking out so that others know how much fun they will experience. Some of the dry dipper and corkscrew type rides can be enhanced with a waterpistol or two between friends, but some parks seem to frown upon this behaviour.

I also like the imaginative rides like that mission to mars countdown spacerocket ride where you get strapped into a rocket for launch and I'll always do the Buzz Lightyear shootem ride a few times if I get the chance.

Here, this time, kind of via Michele. Hiya!

I'm sorry but roller coasters are out even slow ones, I do not enjoy them in anyway, shape or form. Something nice and slow, I mean I don't mind the waltzer that's okay, or anything slow, coasters TOTALLY out.
I've been on one ride that well after 30 seconds I wanted off, it was just a boat that swung back n forth but sorry it just didn't appeal to me, it was at that theme park somewhere in Englandshire.

Jane said...

OK, the first ride I would go to is the 'water' ride...whatever that is. I like the ones where you get wet, especially on a hot summer day.
The one I would avoid at ALL cost would be the roller coaster or any of its' scary cousins. I can't STAND them. I have ridden them in the past and I vowed I would NEVER do it again and I am sticking to that vow!!!

Michele sent me to admit, somewhat sheepishly, that amusement parks have never been my cup of tea. I'm just not a fan of all the rocking and rolling: it turns me a bit green.

Mind you, I CAN be convinced to ride the occasional roller coaster. That's more like flying than being shaken to bits and pieces.

Yeah, I'm a wimp!

:)

I absolutely love rollercoasters so that's where I'd go first. I'd avoid that anything that just goes in a circle at all costs as those rides tend to make me sick.
