TWQ: New Year Resolution

As the year draws to a close, it's time to start thinking about things we are determined to do in the next. TWQ (The Weekend Question) looks at this.

What are you determined to start or stop doing as part of a New Year's Resolution? Add as many as you wish. Add a little humour as well!

My answers are:

1: Be more tolerant of other people. I tend to make too many snap judgements about some.

2: Clean out the VCR cupboard. I don't use VCR anymore. Make space for growing DVD collection.

3: Try and do them before the end of 2010.

Now it's over to you...

I'm here via your commnet, via Michele ... hope I charted my course correctly (and am not writing in a confusing manner!)

In 2008 I am giving up all my volunteer homebirth/birth reform work ... and feeling incredibly excited about it. As one door shuts another opens and I'm just waiting ...

I recently read a list of 10 Anti-Resolutions ... a list of things that you are definitely not intending to do in 2008!! Nice take on all the resolutions we make and then break!

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your comments

I like number 3 :-)

Life and Future is on hold until my dad's scan results come back next month.
Life may go on as normal, or life may become a shuttle between here and Scotland over the next few months.

But top of my list is to better my money raised last year for the Race for Life.
Also on my list is to ride my bike regularly and to improve on my time last year of 54 minutes and 26 seconds.

Nice TWQ, my dear - Michele sent me to see you today :-)

Like Craziequeen I'd like to do Race for Life again too.

It was so rewarding, monetarily for the charity, but also a personal goal achieved too.

One I don't intend to make is to stop buying books, it's an occupational hazard working in a book shop. Might need some more book shelves though!

I never set any resolutions but I do start out each year thinking that I really do need to be more patient. And this coming new year isn't any different.

10 lbs must go and it must go quickly.

I resolve to kick Fishy in the tailfin at least once this year.

I don't need resolutions.

Alright, alright.

I need to lose about 10 lbs and liaten to my 5-year-old a little better. (I do it well already, but there's always room for improvement).

Here from Michele's.

I try to never make New Year's resolutions because then I can't break them. But for you, I'll make an exception.

I resolve to stop editing my novels and actually send something out for consideration. Who knows, maybe I'll even get published.

The lovely Michele sent me. And I've already made my Anti_resolutions, because who can keep those sill New Year's things anyway?

Same as every year; lose weight, eat better, exercise more, yada, yada, yada. I do like giving yourself 'til 2010!

Wishing you a prosperous 2008.

but here are my others:

1) get up off the sofa and move a little
2) smile more, even at stupid people
3) make a few million and retire.

wish me luck!

a) remain employed now that i've started
b) return to my 'lose weight' routine (I stopped to celebrate the holidays)
c) drink more coffee or is that less?
d) actually send out some short stories for publishing and not stress not having written a novel yet
e) finish masters and start novel
f) never let eyebrows grow back in again

Now,

Ask how many I will meet...

...hah ah ah ah ha ha ha ah

No resolutions per say on my part, as I've said before the only one I ever kept was the one to not make anymore resolutions! There are some things I'd like to accomplish, though, and getting more exercise is one of them as well as maybe being able to beat you in a game or two of Scrabulous!

Jean-Luc Picard said...

Linda, you may beat me this time, I have awful letters!

Jodi, Square1, anti-resolutions are a good idea.

Susan, floowing all the books I have, I could do with some shelves as well.

Good on achieving all your resolutions!

This is such a good question...! I actuallly began my New Years Resolution about a month ago...CLEANING OUT PAPERS AND "STUFF"....As in George Carlin "Stuff"....and I vow to continue this process after New Years is over and 2008 snd is finally and irrevocsably HERE! And that is going to be in a very short time....!
I cannot believe how much "stuff" has left in two dumpsters and about 15 File Boxes of paper have been shredded....! It feels great!

Forgot to say Michele sent me , my dear Jean-Luc....!

I seldom make actual resolutions, since I so seldom keep them, anyhow. Nevertheless, I hope this year to be able to make the time to write more letters to my grandchildren, to encourage them to read and write themselves.

hmm - I am usually terrible at resolutions.

Another resolution of mine is to follow though on the initial plan to visit my goddaughter and her mother in Canada.

Michele sent me back [twangs elastic band]

Hello, Michele sent me...and I don't make resolutions...I make lists...

And, on my list this year is to finish some of my quilting projects that have been on hold for several years...and hopefully the fabric hasn't rotted! (Just kidding - the oldest one is only a couple of years old...)

Now that my degree is finished, I have decided I need to lose all the weight I put on while getting the degree (it will probably take me just as long -- ew).

I want to start writing seriously again so bad it hurts. But I need to chase away the writers block (maybe all that running will help me on resolution #1?)

If I put the rest of them down here, I would have a list as long as my arm....so I'll just stop at those two :D

Hi Jean-Luc,
Stopping by to wish you a safe and Happy New Year.

My three resolutions are....

1. Finish a lot of unfinished projects.

2. Spend less time on the computer. Could be the reason behind #1.

3. Getting over my phobia with phones and start answering when friends and family call. This is a real problem I have.

Take care and see you next year. It will be nice to get back to a regular routine with the holidays over. :0)

I firmly resolve to, at some time before April, to make a definitive resolution.

Jean-Luc Picard said...

Bee, you might have the best resolution of all. Happy New Year, everyone!

1. To find a job that makes me happy.

2. To be more creative.
