TWQ: Party Piece

This week, TWQ (The Weekend Question) looks at what you would do in a party.

You have gone to a party, and everyone has to get up and do their 'party piece'. What will you be doing, assuming any facilities are there?

My answer is:

I would be telling a few jokes, as I cannot sing at all. One joke would be "What goes clop, clop, clop, bang, bang, bang, clop, clop, clop?". ""An Amish drive-by shooting." Usually, I like longer story jokes, rather than one-liners.

Now it's over to you...

Eeeeekkk! Can I be the one who goes and hides in the corner? :)

Visiting via Michele today...nice to see you!

That would be very easy for me. I can play over 200 organ pieces and since you said any facilities are there....Voila an organist they will have.

Depending on how drunk I am, I would either give a short political speech or do a rap.

I love making up silly games (that are actually funny and only improve when people are slightly under the influence), so I am sure I would make people participate in them... =)

here from Michele's today.

This is what usually happens... I go to a wedding and then end up sitting in with the band! My favorite weddings are the ones where I get to DANCE and keep my instrument in the case! Hope you have a great weekend, Jean-Luc! Michele sent me over today.

Captain, Michele sent me. I won't be singing or juggling or dancing in front of people, so I'd probably tell a story--it may or not be funny.

I would have to tell a joke. Only problem is that I can't finish the joke because I usually forget how it ends... so I will have to give this some more thought. I used to be able to tap dance when I was about eight. I think that I remember the "shuffle step".

[rotflmao] I LOVE that joke :-)

I can never remember jokes, so I would probably sing something.....

I'd have to tell a joke too, just don't know which one yet...

great joke.

I would probably tell one of my Fiddler's Tales, either the one about why Winter chases Autumn, or the one about the Goblins. Both have been told in public many times and gone over very well.

If it wasn't a story type of party, then I'd sing some thing folkish since I used to do that anyway.

I can't tell a joke to save my life...

Sounds a lot like a newfoundland kitchen party though...*sigh* now I am homesick.

cheers
Merly

I'd recite a haiku I wrote in 7th grade and run for the rum.

Oh,my. I'd be the one opening the bottles of champagne and serving!
You really want to have me around *wink*

Loki and I would do improv comedy. But he's better at it than I am, being actually improv trained and me not...:)

Hi, I just stumbled in here... Uninvited. Did I need an invitation card? Oooops.

I'm assuming that I could get a couple of drinks first before doing my piece?

*cheers for the weekend*

Then I'll do my most ugliest funny faces while I'm doing my strangest funny walks and at the same time singing very loud and false. Probably some strange Swedish song that you never heard of and can't check up what I'm singing....

And No, I'm not going to tell you what I was singing, no matter how many drinks you were bribing me with! I think.... Maybe you should try? *lol*

Have a nice weekend anyway :-)

I've never heard of a "party piece" before. I've never been to a party where the guests were expected to entertain! But if it were to happen, I would probably tell jokes, because thats what I do at parties anyway.

I would do impressions.

I do a killer Kermit the Frog, as well as Bullwinkle and Bill Clinton. Also, there's a certain Starship captain whose voice I do pretty good job on.

"Make it so!"

Well, I'd be pretty tired after entertaining everyone all night with silly antics, windup toys and visionary talks. So, maybe I'd tell a few riddles. Like this one from Cecily Parsely's Nursery Ryhmes by Beatrix Potter:
"Ninny Nanny Netty Coat, in a white petticoat, with a red nose, the longer she stands the shorter she grows."

answer: a candle :D

I wish I could go to a party with all of you! It would be so entertaining with all the party pieces to see!

I would probably start off with a bad impression of Arnold Swarz... however you spell it. From there we could progress to the staring at the lights and finish with a screaming rendition of "Roxanne!" Thank you! Don't forget there's a two drink minimum.

i would sing the song that you can listen to here and think of you the whole time! http://picard.ytmnd.com/

I'd be hiding along with Tammy! :D

I hope you're having a good weekend. Here from Michele's :)

Hi...from Michele's today.
Hmmm....maybe I'd read some essays or poetry and if that proved to be horribly boring....I'd hide in that corner with Tammy and Nikki-Ann.

Viamarie said...

I can sing very well especially Carpenters songs so I guess I'll just do that.

Have a wonderful week ahead!

Panthergirl said...

I would sing "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean", backwards.

I don't expect to be invited to any of your parties any time soon. ;)

Here via michele today!

i'd play "desafinado" on a glorious white grand piano and sway about, trying to be rhythmic about it, but probably failing on account of too much scotch...

I'd drop my trousers and smile. Say, you don't think that has any connection with no longer getting any invites to parties do you?

Since I am just back from the Faerieworld Festival in Oregon where I heard wonderful stories from outstanding story tellers, I would tell a Gaelic Fairy Tale or two.

Came by way of Michele

Oh what a hard question Jean-Luc, but if I had choice I would sing a few songs or maybe even do a few magic tricks. Maybe even get up and do a few of my own poems but that is if I have time to write a few out.

Azgreeneyes said...

I would probably sing, since I have a decent voice, or if my husband can join me, card tricks.

Hello from Michele's

dragonflyfilly said...

i have a terrible singing voice, i can't do impersonations of any kind, i take up too much space when i dance....no luck with musical instruments, can only remember the punch-lines of jokes and not the beginning, and i cannot memorize poetry. i suppose i could give a speech or read something from a book -- i'm afraid i would not be much fun at this party. I know, maybe i could fall off a chair and pretend that i am doing an impersonation of Charlie Chaplin!?

Jean-Luc Picard said...

There seem one or two hiding in the corner!

I'm sure you'd all be wonderful company for a great party!

dragonflyfilly said...

hmmmmm, well....

Jen said...

That's a funny joke!

I just like to get in front of crowds and talk. I don't know why that is, since it scares other people, but I really think I need the extra attention or something...

Meow (aka Connie) said...

Hmmmm, I don't have any party tricks. I'll be the one who slowly backs away, trying to be not noticed, so that no-one asks me what I do !!
Hope your week is going well.
Take care, Meow
