TWQ: The Four Seasons

Here in the northern hemisphere, it's just going into summer. This week, TWQ (The Weekend Question) looks into seasons.

What is your favourite season, and why?

My answer is:

Spring is definately the answer, though perhaps late spring on the verge of summer, which is about a week, to two weeks ago. Everywhere looks grown, the sun is bright, but not hot, and the weather is crisp. It's a very happy time of year. It was ideal for me when I went to Royal Ascot raceground on Thursday 19th.

When summer comes, things can be TOO warm, so the spring is preferable.

Now it's over to you...

I love the "bridge seasons" - late Spring to early Summer, and late Summer to early Fall - because they have the best combination of warm and cool days.

That's a tough one. I like winter because it's (supposed to) snow and I love snow. It makes everything look pretty and covers up stuff that's ugly. However, I find long, monotanous days of grey clouds and rain gets on my nerves after awhile...

Summer's always too hot.

So, I'd have to say Spring and Autumn are my favourites because of the change...

I love winter. I like being out hiking or skiing and breathing heavy coulds of what appears to be smoke and have ice form in my beard. I love the night sky, with Orion and the bull and the sisters overhead. I love evenings spent by the fireplace with a glass of whiskey and mornings spent wrapped up in a blanket and a cup of coffee. I love winter.

Michele sent me to say I am a Spring person. Suffering depression for so long, winter is a tremendous struggle and the odd bright day is small relief. Summer is too uncomfortable, and Autumn signals the onset of winter which I find difficult to comprehend.

Spring is wonderful, the trees are in bud and the flowers start showing signs of blooming. The daffodils, bluebells and crocus add a splash of colour to early spring while the trees prepare to clothe themselves in green. Sunshine, moonshine, blossom and sweet smelling flowers - Spring is the time to feel alive.

i love autumn. all the festivals, the bright colors on the trees, the crisp air after a long hot summer, apples fresh off the tree, pumpkin pie, roasting a turkey in the oven, wearing warmer clothes, long walks on quiet roads with leaves blowing around your feet. yeah, i like autumn!

I like spring and autumn, when the temperatures aren't at an extreme on either end of the spectrum. Of course, at the moment, I'm here in western Oregon, where the summer temperature is usually in the 70's. I'd love summer if it were like that where I live.

Snap, it's spring here for me too. I love the warmth and the light and the first flowers, the end of the horrid winter.

Spring, when it's transitioning into summer...when it's not too hot, and not too cool. Thunderstorm season is nice though, if I get to see some lightning.

When I see the first daffodils bloom, it just makes me happy. I love spring.

Definitely Autumn. The air cools off and everything turns to bright reds, oranges and yellows. I love it.

Spring would be my second choice. ^_~

Enjoy your sunday!

So far, it seems like spring and autumn are the favourites, much like the reasons I stated.

I like Michael's reason regarding the mini-skirts!

I would say early spring is my favorite season. It gets warm but not to hot during the day but it still gets cool enough at night that you have to snuggle under a couple of blankets to sleep.

spring and fall, but we don't seem to get those anymore. All we get is almost winter, winter, still winter and summer :(

When I lived in California, it was definately summer...but here in North Carolina, I'd say fall. The trees get so beautiful...and the humidity finally starts to go down. This spring had been like a horrible summer. I'm not looking forward to the heat July will bring. We are in a severe draught (spelling???). All our water seems to be in the air and staying there like a wet sponge, never squeezing out except to wack you in the face when you go outside.

Autumn....and probably because it's my birth season. :)

Haven't visited in a while, but was thinking about you...

My favorite season is late fall, when the weather is still fairly warm (at least here in Texas), but there's a bite of cold and crisp beneath the warmth. I love the texture and depth of days like that, the enjoyment of the last true warmth and the anticipation of chilly nights in front of the fire.

I like Fall.
When the north wind blows, it has this very specific scent that I love.
