TWQ: Film Weepies

This week, TWQ (The Weekend Question) looks at movies that made you reach for the tissues.

What movies would you consider your most memorable weepies? List as many as you wish.

My answers are:

Beaches: Definately a front-runner, with the 'Wind Beneath My Wings' sequence.

It's A Wonderful Life: A classic movie with a wonderful ending.

Dark Victory: This Bette Davies film tells of a woman who goes blind at the end.

Now it's over to you....

But before I go....

Just to let you know that I make a brief appearance in
  • Last Gladiator 3

  • Ciera has added me in her entry for the task she has. See'Challenge 3: Ciera's Task.'

Love Actually, actually. There are some very funny parts, but also parts that took me by surprise and all of a sudden I was crying. Michele says Hi!

    Oh shameless plugging...honestly, Captain.

Ok, I remember totally losing it during The Color Purple. The second time my friend and I went to see it, we took a brand new box of kleenex -- and used it all.

I also get teary eyed during My Girl or any other movie where the death of a child is involved.

Thanks for the plug Jean-Luc [I asked him to Nepharia]

I cried at the end of Titanic.

And the Passion of the Christ.

Chronicles of Narnia, the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

I'm sure there are more, but these three are the most memorable as it all took place right in the theater. With the exception of 'Passion'...my friends had to ask me if I was all right.

Wow, it would be easier to list the movies that don't give me the weepies I think!

    Okay, here goes ...

    Somewhere In Time
    The Notebook
    A Walk to Remember
    Message in a Bottle
    For Love of the Game
    Field of Dreams
    Love Story
    The Way We Were
    Pride and Prejudice
    Sense and Sensibility
    True Grit
    Moulin Rouge
    Camelot
    What Dreams May Come
    Ladyhawke

... just to name a few!

Love Actually...there's this scene when this one character goes to this woman's house to tell her how he really feels about her and he does it all with cardboard signs so that her husband doesn't hear...crap just writing about it makes me choke up. Other than that...hmm...Better than Chocolate and Finding Nemo are the only other two that spring to mind.

    Michele sent me.

I'm with you 100% on Beaches!

I'll add Big Fish, Edward Scissorhands and I do agree with Moulin Rouge

MOTD, I find it too difficult to watch 'Beaches' as I know what the ending will do.

'Sleepless In Seattle' and 'Saving Private Ryan' are two I could have listed.

I have cried watching most our very own Hindi movies. From the sheer stupidity of it all!

Cried at mysel;f, how could I bear watching those!

    :D

Do you think M&G is gonna be bust soon?

Hmmm.....A lot of those movies I cried over have already been listed. The one I can add is Armageddon when the daughter had to lose either her dad or her fiance.

I agree with 'Dark Victory' but I was very young.
    'The English Patient'
Isn't it funny how one's mind goes blank and yet dozens of times I have come out of the cinema sniffing and blubbing.
    'Blossoms in the Dust'
    'Little Women'
    'Midnight Cowboy'
'Death in Venice'. and many many more:)

"Dr Zhivago", "The Notebook", "Finding Nemo"... I'm an equal opportunity weeper.
Don't see too many movies these days, though (I'm headed for "Kung Fu Panda" with my youngest this next week; not thinking I'll need tissues for that one)...

This is a tough one. Weepies?

I cried when Inspector Morse died, but that was a tv-movie. That doesn't count.

I'll have to get back to you on that one...

I've never seen your 3 weepy movies.... that shows how much younger I am. hehe....

    My weepy movies,
    Titanic
    Ghost
    Scindler's List
    The Pianist

    hmmmm.... I prefer comedies.

Casablanca, The Horse Whisperer, This Is Elvis, and the much criticized Autumn in New York. To hell with the critics BTW. I enjoyed them all!

Some good suggestions there. ECL mentioned 'Ghost', which is another that could have been on my list.

I can't think of any movies I've cried over right now, although its seems I cry at the drop of a hat. The last time I cried was at the end of the PBS special on "Marie Antoinette" and that was over the fate of her poor son. I also wept hard over Charlie's death in "Lost". Sometimes it feels good to get it all out. :)
