TWQ: Advice For Your Younger Self

This weekend looks at something we perhaps all would have wished we could do at some stage in our lives.

What advice would you like to have given yourself at the age of 16 (or younger) if you had the opportunity?

My answer is:

Some opportunities only come once in a lifetime; look out for them. Thay are not always easy to find.

If you can see the way your life may be heading, and are not happy change it, before it is too late.

Remember those around you; they won't be here for ever.

Invest in Microsoft!

Now it's over to you...

What's so good about Picard anyway? Kirk and Spock were far better officers than that cue-ball. I agree with this ape.

Hi here from Michele's today.

I'd advise the 16 year old me to keep her eyes open and not to have a 'it won't happen to me' attitude...because it will.

Thanks for dropping by again. Here are my answers:
1. It is better to cry than to be angry, because anger hurts others while tears flow silently through the soul and cleanses the heart.
2. All things in life are temporary. if they're going well, enjoy! They won't last forever. If they go wrong, don't worry. They can't last long.
3. Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us everyday.

Have a great weekend!

I would tell myself the following:

1. don't have a baby so young, you need to grow up first.

2. don't turn your back on your sister, she is the only family who is worth having.

3.Don't forget to enjoy life!

I think I'd suggest to keep cherishing the moments with the family. Once you start to lose loved ones...

Michele sent me, Captain.

Take that job with the brokerage! (even though cold calls suck)

Work on that dating thing more and study less. Interpersonal skills never go out of fashion but memory fades.

Don't major in English; be a mechanical engineer.

But I wouldn't have listened!

I'll agree with the Microsoft investment advice. The other bit of advice would be to lose those pounds asap because it only gets harder the older I get.

I would tell myself to enjoy being single...and to not rush into marriage before enjoying some of the freedom of graduating high school.

What advice would i have given myself? Probably to drink less. Don't let Rachel near Joey. Make sure your transfer papers hold up in court and above all else, gave a good time ALL THE TIME.

My answer is:
If really I can change it then I would but then we all know we can't so....Guilt is concerned with the past. Worry is concerned about the future. Contentment enjoys the present.I shall have to be contented with what I have, what I am today.

I wouldn't give myself advice because without my mistakes I a) wouldn't be here in place and time and b) wouldn't have learned from them.

But I wish I had seen this quote earlier in my life!

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Champagne in one hand - strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, "WOO HOO - What a Ride!"

Wise thoughts so far; we all see differently at 16.

Here from Michele.
If things seem to work out that it looks like you will go to medical school, don't.

Take more business courses.

The Microsoft investment is good. When I was 16 Walmart would also have been a good idea along with IBM. If you see the future in computers then go there.

Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it, even if it is not a long term wonderful.

I love that last piece of advice. Brilliant!

This is a great question. I have so many things that I'd tell my 16-year old self: Be yourself. Don't be impressed with "pretty people." work hard even when it's not fun. Find your passion. Be nice to everyone, even when you don't feel like it. Don't be a drama queen......

OK, I'll stop. This is your blog, not mine. Thanks for the mental exercise!

Michele sent me and I'm glad she did!
