Welcome to my 150th post!
This weekend, I will be asking about those things we have wanted to do:
What daring deeds have you ever done in your life? Which ones would you like to do, but never have?
My answer is:
The bravest thing I ever did was take a ride for five miles on the back of a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Though I adore them, for medical reasons, I could never drive one. Someone asked me once to get one the back. I held on with a very tight grip as we whizzed along the road at top speed.
I would like to take a ride in a hot air balloon. There have always been some about 100 miles away, but have never gone through with it. The same is now with piloting a glider.
Now it's over to you...
But first...
One more thing...
If you look to the right side of the Journal, you will see a new feature called 'Join The Federation'. This is my Frappr Map, called 'The Federation'. Could you please add yourselves on to this? It will require you to register, but I hope you will, as I'd like as many friends as possible to join. Thanks.

I went snowboarding on a volcanic mountain in New Zealand. It had previousely blown up just three years earlier...it was a risk everyone took but we all got off there in one piece!
i flew on an ultralight plane and went swimming with false killer whales. :) also joined your frappr list - lol!
I used to want to jump out od an airplne, but with age somes wisdom. I'm already on the fround. Michele sent me.
The only risks I take are each day, as I am a teacher! :)
Michele sent me.
Hi. Michele sent me.
The most recent daring thing that I did would be I guess driving a field tractor thing in the fields at this village...and figuring out how to stop the damn thing while going around in circles for a million years.
I want to go sky diving..
I went to a Star Trek convention...

I bungy jumped off the bridge over Victoria Falls between Zimbabwe and Zambia about 1000 years ago! I was on holiday there at the time it was utterly thrilling ... before picture here, ... not of the jump, they wouldn't let you take a camera!
Just added myself to your federation.
I can only think of 1 daring deed I wish I could do....to pamper myself with a very long vacation far away from home say at least a month or two or maybe a year. To live on my own with no one to think about.
I married a crazy guy...21 years ago.
Now I just want peace! Michele sent me
Enlist myself as a reservist in the Air Force is a daring move for me.
Thanks for dropping by.
When I was 19 and working on my degree in Anthropology, I went and lived among the Zapotec Indians in Oaxaca, Mexico. No toliets, no t.v., no transportation! It was wonderful, but my parents were up in arms the entire time I was gone.
I would love to drive a taxi cab in New York City or drive a race car.
I went go-karting...you know those little carts with brakes and no gears that go like rockets? I got about 100yds around the track and then shunted into some tyres and demanded in floods of tears to be let out.....not a roaring success really - mind you, cyberkitten and sleepypete thought it was hilarious!
What would I LIKE to do? Go dude riding, pretend to be a cowboy.....or ride the prairies.....or the mountains....Western riding anyway - so different from our buttoned up English horsemanship.

[waves - hi sweetie!]
Michele sent me. I would've got here sooner but it seems that I've had some trouble with tribbles.
OK, this is sad, the only daring thing I ever did was ask Elvis Costello for a hug and kiss.
I got them.
Here via Michele's
I did a tandem sky-dive from 15,000ft. I'd like to learn to do it solo!
Here from Michele's Hi!
I have street raced on desserted roads, I have jumped off a bridge into the river.
I would love to skydive
Here from Michele's
I drive a school bus...how's that for daring? 4 days a week too! LOL!
Let's see...I would really like to fly someday. I love to watch airplanes take off and land and that kind of stuff, but I've never actually gotten to ride in one. Knowing my luck, I'd probably get sick! Still, I managed rollercoasters ok, so maybe not.
:)
The most daring thing I ever did was, I think, to ask someone to marry me (he turned me down, thankfully, but that's another story).
The most daring thing I would like to do is hike the Appalachian Trail.
I joined the Federation, and thanks for adding me to the GQ!
wow, i feel honored to officially be a "guest" on the enterprise...such a dream come true! :-) when do i get the tour?
sheesh --- I almost forgot to say congrats on reaching 150 Jean-Luc!
Hi Jean-Luc! I think the most daring thing I've done recently was volunteer to sing solo at a concert, because I'd never done a proper performance before. (I enjoyed your Harley Davidson story... My brother has a motorbike and when he still lived with my parents I used to jump at the chance to ride on the back) As for something daring I'd like to do... I'd really like to go to Africa. I find this really scary but most scary things are also awesome and exciting :)
I gave birth to a breech baby at home. On purpose.
I've always wanted to skydive :)
Happy 150th!
Let's see....I rode a train up the east coast of China when there were very few tourists traveling in China. My parents were with me. It was quite an adventure.
What would I like to do? More travelling someday.
I have done lots of crazy things...what comes to mind is swimming with stingrays, biking down a volcano, parasailing, being in various mosh pits, drinking more than a human should be able to hold...and yes, I have been on a hot air balloon. What haven't I done? Can't think of anything daring that I want to do that I haven't done!
My entire life has been a series of daring deeds (most people called them stupid at the time, however). My most recent deed is that I'm featured in a film that will air for the first time tomorrow. It's pretty controversial and will completely discredit me as a serious musician, but what the hell...
My next? I want to go hot air ballooning. That's about all I can handle right now!
I think one of the bravest things I have ever done when I was a pretty young person was to go on the parachute jump at Coney Island...It was THE SCARIEST THING, EVER!!!! I screamed all the way down and was exhilerated...but...I would NEVER do it it again! (lol)
Incidentally Jean-Luc...do go see or rent "The March Of The Pemguins"....it is so very beautiful in every way...I think you will like it...it's really about a very brave journey...!
Came by from Michele, sort of...!
Hi, I enjoyed my visit.
Got here via Michele
I'm on your map, Captain! The bravest thing I've ever done: run away from home and fly (for the first time ever) to NYC alone at the age of 18. I know, it sounds silly to say I ran away at 18, but back then, it was like doing it now at 13.
I took a helicopter tour of Kauai, and walked on the rim of a volcano and I would do both again in a heartbeat.
I have always wanted to ride in a hot air balloon. We had a ride scheduled once, and the balloonist died; hitting elecrtical wires about a week before our scheduled flight. Mr. Kenju would never consider doing it after that.
What a brave group you all are! There are so many things that could be done.
Glad that I've had a lot join my Map.
Jaime & No Average Girl: a pleasure to have you on my list! I'd give you both the tour myself but I always get lost.
I've long wanted to kayak in really rough water, Jean-Luc but my lack of swimming ability has kept me from doing it.
I've not done a lot of daring deeds but I guess one would have been when I bushwhacked between two mountain trails to test my newly aquired compass skills while in high school. As an adult I look back at that and think how easy it'd have been to get hurt and I'd never have been found. Moving past daring to incredibly stupid--me, my brother, and some friends used to chop out sections of river ice when we were kids and teeter-totter on it. I can't believe not a one of us ever got dumped under the ice. We must have done that at least 30 times and that would have been certain death to fall. So damn stupid...
Oops. Michele sent me, Jean-Luc.
Back again from Michele's
Personally, I refuse to do anything that defies gravity, or functions on its laws. Skiing was pretty hair-raising. What would I like to do? I don't know, but it involves an awful lot of duct tape, maple syrup and a pummel horse.
Here via Michele's today.
p
I flew in a blimp. Not really much of a risk. But it WAS cool. I opened the sliding windows and dropped popcorn out of them. I was trying to hit the swimming pools far below.
I had children. ;) Seriously, that takes some guts.
Outside of that, let's see, I sent snorkeling in the Pacific around Bora Bora with a guide that hardly spoke English. He took us out to the middle of no where and then swam a good mile from the boat. It was hard getting back without feeling overwhelmed and exhausted.
Michele sent me today.
I've had a child, spent 3 weeks in Spain when I was 15, eaten weird dishes, and been on a sea trek...but none of those were really daring. But I would love to trying parasailing sometime! Looks like fun!!!
I once rode 'shotgun' into Croatia during Operation Joint Guard. But I had a weapon and the war was really over...so, I wasn't that brave. Heh.
I'd like to visit India someday...being an American I think that would take some guts.
Not sure how to register on your federation thing???
In the US Army, I was stationed in Turkey for a year. There was a cliff a couple miles from the base that had to be 200 feet. I rappelled down it several times, scared to death each time. Shortly thereafter, I went to jumpschool, which was also pretty scary.
