TWQ: Earliest Memories

The Weekend Question (TWQ) this week is asking you to think back a long way...

What are the earliest memories you can remember; where were you, and what were you doing?

Here is my answer:

The earliest memory I can recall is being taken up to the local town visiting my grandmother who lived nearby. At the time, the town still had a pre-war image, and hadn't changed too much from the early part of the 20th century. Though they were old, they were all thriving. In the route to the indoor market, I can recall survivors from the war in bathchairs. In 1974, the town was completely modernised, and all the old shops swept away. Now, the new shops have moved out, and there are just cheap tatty shops there. The town currently has one of the lowest qualities of life in the country.

Now it's over to you...

Sadly, my earliest memory is my parents, having a huge fight. I think they divorced shortly after that.

My earliest memories are when we were living in Maine at Lorean Air force Base and the snow was so deep it was over my head. Michelle sent me

One of my earliest memories is going to my grandmother's aparmenet on Sundays after church. She had a baskeet of toys, including a stuffed dog who was my absolute favorite. She eventually gave me that dog and Key (as I named him) was my favorite stuffed animal throughout my youth.

Ummm, my earliest memory is nothing special...unlike yours Capt. I was two at the time and I had just learned how to potty train. As I was going to the bathroom, my uncle comes in with a camera. I quickly hide myself with my hands and then smile wide as he takes my picture. This picture is now in my childhood photo album.

hey there, el capitan!

my earliest memory is similar to trinity's... i was a year old and my dad was trying to get my photo. i was sitting up on their bed and my three elder siblings are hiding behind their bed trying to sneak into the picture. my dad had to keep shushing them. when my dad finally took the picture, the three of them reared their heads from behind the headboard and posed. that picture is still in our family album and they get surprised that i actually remember this happening!

Hi, Michele sent me. My first memory is one I wouldn't want to depress people with...I was 3 and it's not nice stuff.

Good morning, Michele sent me.

I have hardly no memory of when I was very small. I do remember walking along the road with my aunt and uncle and stepping on a big snake.

Hello, Michele sent me!

You know, I have a really good memory, so it's hard to say of all the memories I have of childhood which one is my first. However, I do think that I have defied the laws of psychology and can remember being in an incubator as an infant, since I have an image that has been burned in my brain for years and that is the only thing it resembles.

I have various happy memories of playing with my toys in the first house that I ever lived in. The earliest memory that I can actually date is when I was four years old: I was watching television, and the same pictures were on every channel ~ that of a black horse being lead down a street, other horses pulling a "carriage", and a very serious feeling about the whole thing. It wasn't until much later that I realized that what I had watched was the funeral procession of JFK.

My earliest memory was when I was probably 3, and I was sitting outside in my yard in the sun with my German Shepard. Not an exciting memory, but a nice one.

I don't have a lot of early memories but one I do have is from when I was about three years old. I was begging my mother to give me a banana and she was reminding me that I didn't like them and wouldn't eat it. I promised her that I would and she gave it to me. of course, I didn't eat it, I hate bananas. but I do remember wanting to like them so much. I don't know why.

Thank you so much for your wonderful memories; some filled with happiness and colour, others tinged with sadness. It's been great to read them all.

Tammy, I can beat that. My earliest memory (I'm not sure of my age, but I was in a high chair) is of spaghetti sauce on the wall of our dining room. It got there because my father was pissed at my mom about something and upended the dinner table.

Greetings, Captain. Michele sent me. It's a pleasure to read your writing after enjoying your video work for such a long time.

My earliest memory is of my mother telling me we were going to move, so I needed to put my toys in a box. I was about three years old and very excited about moving. But that's because someone else packed and unpacked all the other boxes.

My earliests memory is being left in the car to wait on some adult or other. I must have been about 3 or so... a huge spider (or so it seemed to me), decended from the roof of the car and I screamed and screamed. I don't remember anyone ever coming to my rescue...thus to date, I am deathly afraid of the critters!
