TWQ: Favourite Shops

This week, TWQ (The Weekend Question) asks about shopping.

Which stores do you enjoy shopping in and like to go around as often as possible?

My answers are:

Bookshops are always wonderful to meander through. Hatchards in Picadilly (London) is wonderful, as is Waterstones in Birmingham. Sometimes I can find unexpected treasures, like I did with 'The Book Thief' by Marcus Zusak.

I try to avoid all shops with pushy sales assistants.

Now it's over to you...

Waitrose is one, because I have to use a Tesco as my local which I detest. And also Apple, as I hav just bought a MacBook and can't wait to use it. I know there will be lots of gadgets I shall want to go with it.

I'm afraid I am an online shopper for the most part and don't actually like going around shops. I prefer secondhand bookshops and small giftshops and art gallerys to go into and look round.

Michele sent me over! :)

I love to go to book stores, but I don't seem to do it so much anymore.

And believe it or not, I still like to browse the toy aisles of big box stores.

but actual stores, i like dillards and coldwater creek i think, and the apple store too.

I'm a sucker for any type of store that sells computers, computer gear, software, hardware, piece, parts, books...you get the picture.

My favorites are Fry's and Best Buy, although Radio Shack is also a lot of fun. NewEgg.com (online) is awesome.

There is a local bookstore called "Half Price Books" that the whole family loves going to as well.

The two big stores that are national chains (due to merge since each is losing money) is Barnes & Noble and Borders. At both there is a cafe and I can buy a cup of java and sit with my collection of magazines and books. Half Price Books is a fun rummage shop where I picked up, "The Rolling Stones: in the beginning".

My fave shops are:

1) Apple stores and authorized Mac stores (I miss Comp USA). I love browsing the accessories!
2) Other gadget stores like Best Buy, especially if they sell music.
3) Bookstores (Barnes & Noble and Borders are fun!)
4) Any music instrument stores. (I occasionally play guitar and keys, so I like to keep up)

Great question, Captain! I think I'll blog more about it and credit you!

Most likely to find me at book stores, Fye, and Best Buy. Well one of the three.

In trying to compose a shortish answer I am finding myself going wild realizing how much I like to browse in shops, so well-trained a consumer am I! :D So, here are the kinds: book stores (and I admit I prefer the big ones with cafes), museum shops, toy stores with good quality art & science stuff, flower shops, home goods, cooking & home improvement stores, big box camping outfitters and vintage & upscale clothes boutiques. Oddly, I avoid shoe shops. Don't actually buy much though. :)

I'm afraid I'm more of an "efficient" shopper than a "browser" these days. I miss meandering through bookstores, garden centers etc! If I had just a little more time, I'd add sporting goods and art shops as "fun to explore." Still love a good hardware store and seem to run to those a little too frequently...

hmm...I like shopping online too. But when I go out, I like going to the mall on a slow day and wandering around...love the bookstores. I like to look at jewelry. Even though I can't afford to buy any of it, I like to look at it. Shoe stores are nice too.

Like many of the above, I'm an online shopper as well, with Amazon being my favourite. I can do legwork in pricey places and make my mind up to buy it, then go to the computer and get it much cheaper!

I love just about any bookstore (and who doesn't apparently), and The Junkman's Daughter in Little 5 Points. And independently owned coffee shops. And cooking stores.

I'm a big fan of Apple stores (I guess I'm joining the club here.) They just have a certain aesthetic that raises retail to a high art. Chatting with the "Geniuses" is also a lot of fun - and it brings me back to an era when retail service actually meant something.

Great question!

I love going to the bookshops, browsing magazines and checking out the latest titles. I go to Borders quite often because it's nearest to my house.

Target, Dots, Borders, Rue 21, Macy's to name a few. Online is all about Amazon.
