TWQ: Influential TV Characters

This week, TWQ (The Weekend Question) looks at those characters in a tv series that are your favourites.

Which characters in tv series are your favourites, and are also most influential in the stories. List as many as you wish.

My answers are:

CSI: Sara Sidle (now sadly departed)
Lost: Benjamin Linus (who the whole series revolves around, in my opinion)
Smallville: Chloe Sullivan (a vital character who has saved Clark more than once)
24: Chloe O'Brien (she keeps Jack Bauer in touch with events, even when it's illegal!)
Criminal Minds: Penelope Garcia (what would the team do without her? A great character)
CSI:Miami: Horatio Crane (those one-liners are priceless!)
Stargate SG1: Jack O'Neill and Samantha Carter: (Both essential characters. Jack for his comments and also bewilderment at Sam's technical explanations)

Now it's over to you...

Terminatrix sent this meme.

This is from me:

01] I am scared of Sky.
02]Sky is a terminator.
03] If I were in a room with Sky, I would look for the door.
04] I think Sky should seek another occupation.
05] Sky needs to look at her good side..
06] I want to run from Sky.
07] Someday Sky will be caught by her enemies.
08] Sky reminds me of Seven.
09] Without Sky I might breathe a little easier.
10] My memories of Sky are not good.
11] Sky can be scary.
12] The worst thing about Sky is her ability to wipe humanity off the earth..
13] The best thing about Sky is ther human streak.
14] I am still scared of Sky.
15] One thing I would like to know about Sky is does she have any other hobbies?
16] Sky should go and join a library.
17] Sky worries me
18) What I like best about Sky's blog is her feminine view.
19) What I dislike about Sky's blog is her relentless destruction.
20) My favorite post from Sky is any that doesn't involve humans being killed off..

And this is from Seven of Nine...

01] I love Sky.
02]Sky is so much like me
03] If I were in a room with Sky, I would be very happy.
04] I think Sky should join forces with me to destroy those against us.
05] Sky needs me.
06] I want to help Sky.
07] Someday Sky will be victorious against the humans.
08] Sky reminds me of me.
09] Without Sky I have no friends.
10] My memories of Sky are pleasant.
11] Sky can be good company.
12] The worst thing about Sky is she is not a borg.
13] The best thing about Sky is that she is my friend.
14] I am best friends with Sky.
15] One thing I would like to know about Sky is does she feel the same about me.
16] Sky should go and terminate some humans.
17] Sky and me
18) What I like best about Sky's blog is her victories over humans.
19) What I dislike about Sky's blog is nothing.
20) My favorite post from Sky is the ones with us both in.

Hi. Michele sent me over to play.

Michael Bluth in Arrested Development.
Rupert Giles and Willow in BTVS.
Jake Green in Jericho
Dr Cox in Scrubs.

Actually, Captain Picard always comes to mind.

Also, Denny Crane in Boston Legal.

Capt Picard, naturally!

McGuyver - who else could save the world every week with six inches of string and an empty roll of toilet paper?

Dan Briggs - leader of the Impossible Missions Force in the original TV series. The sort of understated hero Tom Cruise could never be.

Dr. Who: Dr Who. Okay very predictable.

Battlestar Galactica: Helo. He's just very solid, very stable, very bulldog loyal, and has silently influenced a lot of things. And Athena. She just rocks.

Torchwood: Tosh, she was always my favorite.

Um, that pretty much shows you how lame I am lol

hands down it HAS to be frank and marie barone on "everybody loves raymond". the brother, robert, is pretty good too, but frank and marie make me laugh every day in their re-runs...

Roy and Hayley in Coronation Street because they are really decent folk.
Sir Alan Sugar in 'The Apprentice'(OK maybe it isn't fictional but it sure is entertainment) because he won't stand BS and cuts those snotty little upstarts and bullies (some of them) down to size and he always gets at least one belly laught out of me.
Michele says good day to you.

Star Trek: Captain Kirk (he kicked ass and took names)

Star Trek TNG: Worf (he also kicked ass and took names)

Quantum Leap: Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula, yum....)

Star Trek: Enterprise: Captain Jonathan Archer (Scott Bakula...yum again) and Commander Tucker and Lt Reed (they always got into some good trouble together)

Do Non-Fiction Shows count? If so, then I'd like to add:

Dirty Jobs: Mike Rowe

Mythbusters: Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman. The interns are kinda lame. :D

That's all I can think of right now.

NCIS: Tony DiNozo ('cause I'm a sucker for that type of guy - often to my detriment)

X-Files: Mulder, of course.

Family Guy: Brian

Magnum P.I.: The Lads - kidding! Magnum, again of course.

Friends: Ross - highly underrated.

To be honest, I don't watch much TV unless I'm at work but I really have to agree with Nepharia's list, though in "Quantum Leap" I also liked Al as where would Sam have been without him?

I'm a big fan of Morse and have bought the entire compilation. I have it to watch on days I need to lie low, if I'm feeling poorly or really tired. I find them so soothing, I love the settings and Morse reminds me of my late father too, they look very similar.

I hope you are enjoying the sunshine, cpatain.

Bilbo, I laughed at your McGyver choice. It really is true!

Some shows people have listed I haven't seen, but those I have were good choices.

Let's see.....

I'm with you on Garcia, although I think Spencer is indispensable with his eidetic memory.

Bones - Angela, she is SO cool, even though it's a strong ensemble cast. With all the squints in the lab, Angela keeps things real.

Big Bang Theory - of course Sheldon! The casting of Jim Parsons as the obsessive compulsive physicist is inspired.

Reaper - Ray Wise as the Devil. Forget the kids, Ray is the Unibond that holds this show together and on track - and he's a scream!

Ooh, lots!!

Michele sent me to see the TWQ.

A few current favorites:

Ugly Betty: Amanda, the receptionist. The writers must love her, because she gets the BEST lines!

Grey's Anatomy: Alex Karev. Keeps the show watchable for me.

I don't watch that much scripted TV these days, but those are two that stand out for me!

The Mistress of the Dark said...

Torchwood: Owen another good one with the one liners.

Coupling: Jeff Murdoch, oh those fumbles with women.

Are You Being Served: Mr. Humphries is always free!

Red Dwarf: The Cat and Rimmer! one for fashionable weirdness and the other for pure smegginess :)

Michele sent me back to try and add some more. Now I wish I had saved some as I don't watch much TV!

Battlestar Gallactica (new) - Caprica
Friends - Chandler
24 - Michelle Dessler and Chloe O'Brien

Farscape: Aeryn Sun (she had to deal with Crighton, enough said!)

Firefly: Malcolm (as captain, he did not see many of his orders followed by his crew of misfits, but had to save the day anyway)

Stargate SG1: Jack (just for his lack of knowledge of technical stuff and confused expression)

Enterprise: Tucker (I just like the episodes where he is the main character)

Bones: Booth and Angela (both because they seem the only sane ones to go "yuck" at the attrocities they encounter)

Buffy: Oz (though only a couple of seasons a main character, he had an ability to stay with both feet on the ground when things got hot)

Angel: Fred (though she seemed fragile, she had enormous power within)

NCIS: DiNozzo and Ziva David (I just find them amuzing to watch)

Dr. Who: Dr. Who of course! Though I liked Rose a lot as well.

The Real Mother Hen said...

Stargate - Jack my all-time favorite... and Daniel Jackson :)

Lost: Sawyer (he has emotional impact without being a leader. I love that he is the biggest reader on the island.)

The Office (American): Jim

Doctor Who: Rose

Backyardigans (kid show): Austin

I'm late on this one!

24: Jack. And Chloe. No explanation needed for either of them.

Knight Rider: KITT. How can you not love KITT?

Murphy Brown: Miles Silverberg. He is just too funny!!

7th Heaven: Matt. Just because.
