TWQ: Favourite Party

As the Enterprise Christmas Party is almost upon us, TWQ (The Weekend Question) asks about the ones you've attended in the past.

What was the best party that you have ever attended?

My answers are:

My favourite party was the one I had for my 21st birthday. It was a sit-down meal, with a disco. The family really came together on a memorable night. As my birthday is in January, we were lucky, as the following day had a heavy snowfall, and had it been then, people could not have come.

Besides that, I've found that fancy dress parties are a great way to 'break the ice', and 'Murder Weekends' are huge fun.

Now it's over to you....

But before I go...

Just a note that the Enterprise Christrmas Party has been extended to seven parts because of the high level of entries. Sadly, there will be no TWQ next weekend because of this, but there will be a four-day one commencing Thurs 14th as I'll be in London.

Michele sent me over the vast ocean of space to see you, Captain Picard.

Right off hand I don't recall any party that I particularly liked. Being surrounded by people isn't pleasant for me. I suspect I liked the house parties for the Pathology Residents at my University's Med School the best. They have 2 a year but I only went while dating a resident. And that was long ago...

I don't actually remember one party that was particularly good. I tend to expect too much from Christmas parties and so get disappointed. I've stopped going to them now and this will be my second year in a row without a Christmas Party.

Here from Michele's today!

Bummer - I missed the deadline......

Can't wait to read all the entries, Jean-Luc.

Best Party? So many, my dear, and I didn't have the 'Big' ones (21 or 18) celebrated, so no real outstanding memories.

My wedding. Bar none. No hangover, and an entire lifetime to enjoy the after-effects.

Good to see you from Michele's today, Captain. Hope your weekend is proceeding swimmingly.

I have attended some great parties; a recent one with a pudding tree was quite fun, where the puddings were literally suspended from strings in a science fiction setting.

And I was at a Casino party yesterday, so I am still recovering at present.

Looking forward to yours, too!

I'm with Carmi there - the best party ever was my wedding. Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, swing bands, casinos and copious amounts of wine. You can't beat it. And for once, I remember every single minute. Mainly because Girlpants reminds me of any failings that may have happened on the day. I do remember a rather drunk game of croquet on the lawn at one point, early in the evening. Plus I was wearing the best dress there ;)

hie de hoe mon Kapitano, just to let you know that i may not be able to attend *whimper whimper* your do due to the frost that has disrupted things in Faerieland. Techys are all working hard to get thing operational but it looks like i will not be able to get safely through the protective shield here to allow me to be beamed up by The Enterprise. very sorry about that, so maybe i will have to have a party of my own here at Flamingo's Hideaway (which IS located in the Rhelm of the Faeries in case you guys out there did not know!) anyhow, my regrets in advance...

well, back i go to try to get a cosy fire started

oh, with ref. to this recent post:

I think i would have to say that the best Christmas Party i attended was when i was ...hmmm....i think about 7 years old. It was in our church hall, and there was the most fabulously jolly Santa, and i got to dress up in my best dress (every year my mom made the three girls a best dress, we had one for summer and one for winter, the winter dress this year was burgandy velvet, and the summer dress was in georgeous white cotton with embossed multicoloured stripes, and that was the dress i wore), with my pearl pink shoes and white socks. We could run around the hall freely, singing and dancing, there was a huge Christmas Tree with tons on pressies under it, and after a lovely feast we all lined up to sit on Santa's knee, chat with him for awhile, then recieve our presents. I think i got a baby doll that year, which i absolutely adored. Crumbs! ---funny how all this has come back to me.

The three best parties I ever remember having were my 16th birthday, it was surprise party done by my amazing high school friends and probably in my life the most loved I have ever felt. My wedding day, which was a party of 4 people ( Me, my husband our best man and maid of honor)....and inadvertantly an entire Danish town.
And the graduation party I had with my very best friend when I graduated from art school. Which was me, my very best friend Andrea ( who was also my maid of honor at the above mentioned party)and the pub we used to like to hang out at, 'Stainers Bar and grill' in Halifax.

The best party I ever attended was my sister's wedding. My own wedding was pretty awesome, but there was still a bit of stress involved. At my sister's, I still got to dress beautifully, but was free to party as much as I wanted.

as i said earlier, things in Faerieland are FROSTY, and my electronic communication system is Kaputski, so...thanks for yours, and you R most welcome, but not to worry, Jam has lots of sugar in it which is a natural preservative, also, it was bottled boiling hot (jars and content) which causes it to go through a self-sealing process which makes it air-tight, BUT, on the other hand, you may want to try it, because stuff is ALWAYS best when fresh, so either way, it's all good, as "they" say!

cheers for now,
pj

p.s. just keep in mind it is always good on fresh-baked scones and accompanied by an exquisite French Roast

The best party I attended was in Ireland. It was a party for someone. that's all I know. I don't know who. My friend and I were visiting Ireland on some tour while stationed in England and while at the local hotel restaurant, were invited by two guys to a party in the hotel basement. There were just tons of people, and I remember everyone getting into a big circle singing New York New York (why, I don't know, I was ashamed to discover that I, one of two Americans, was one of the only two people to not know all the words, the second, being my friend) and just people hugging me and me hugging people and my friend and I just having a blast. I think that was one of the best parties I've ever been to, and I don't even know who's party it was, or what they were celebrating.

Best party ever? The one where the dessert needed to be washed off the walls.

The best party I ever attended ended with half of the building missing.

Some great memories there; the best parties are clearly the ones in which we remember every detail.

The best party I ever attended is the one that I recently organized for the 30th founding anniversary celebration of our hospital. It was very well attende both by the administrative employees and the doctors. But this is not why it's the best, it is in this party that they all got to see me dance for the first time. I enjoyed doing it and so did all of them.

Happy Sunday!

The best party I ever attended was a surprise birthday barbecue that was thrown for me by my wife and all our neighbors.

I feel pretty anti-social right now. The last party I attended was in college and it got me into a fair amount of trouble.

Oye, thinking about it hurts and makes me feel like and idiot.

I guess my favorite party (besides my wedding reception) was my 40th birthday. All of my friends and family together at the same time. I felt very special and very loved. Good question!

Here via Michele, but I come by often anyway

My favorite party was twelve years ago when I met my husband. I still get that butterfly feeling when I think about how unreal it is that we were meant to end up together. It is even more amazing that there was an attraction despite the fact that I was painted as a mime.

Yes, that is true about fancy dress parties, my favourite was a Medieaval party in our village to celebrate our church's anniversary and we dressed up and had minstrels and lots of very bawdy entertainment, great food, and wine on top, so we all got very merry.
