TWQ: Romantic Music

TWQ (The Weekend Question) goes very romantic and askd you about music:

What selection of music would you play in the background while having a romantic dinner with someone? (Pick as many as you want).

My answers are:

Classically speaking the music of Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet might be a good choice.

Herb Alpert's 'This Guy's In Love With You'

Stevie Wonder's 'Ma Cherie Amour'

Liberace's gentle playing of 'I'll Be Seeing You' could be a final choice.

Now it's over to you...

Oh this one is easy, it has to be Rachmaninov Piano Concerto number 2. The music featured on Brief Encounter.

Your choices were all good, but me having a romantic dinner, then I would love to hear "An Affair To Remember".

The only problem with Rachmaninov is that I would want to listen to the music rather than the company...

Hmmm....Carmen perhaps to keep it light with a hint of heat...and then Norah Jones with her smoky late night voice....

I have an iPod playlist called LiteSounds that I play on romantic nights. They aren't all lovesongs, but still good mood music. Two of the songs are:

"Your Song" by Elton John
"Songbird" by Eva Cassidy

I live this question.

"When the moon is in the sky like a big a pizza pie..."

I'm with you on Prokofiev's Romeo & Juliet. There is a lot of beautiful romantic classical music.
Norah Jones in the back sounds good.
Robbie Williams singing ballads...
The Rat Pack will do too.

Hubby always makes a meal and then puts on the rat pack in las vegas in the background, so it feels like a romantic night out.
There's nothing like being serenaded by Dean Martin

Billy Holiday is quite enjoyable in a smoky and jazzy way.

Friday it was Hotel Costes 8 by Stéphane Pompougnac which is all dens of opulence and all things in excess.

And here today, via Michele's!

You all have such good choices. I agree with those who said a few Rat Pack standards would also be perfect. 'Fly Me To The Moon' and 'I've Got You Under My Skin' would be just right.

Lahdeedah, the song you were referring to is 'That's Amore', made famous by Dean Martin.

I don't really do romantic, but yeah, Sinatra sounds about right, especially being here in Hoboken. And probably Being Alive from Company.

Power of Love, by Frankie goes to Hollywood.
The words are very powerful.
I'm not however a big fan of romantic meals.

It's been forever since I've been out for a romantic meal but the last time I was, there was light, classical music playing but I don't know one composer from another.

Hmmm...that's an interesting question. I would have to say the song that Loki and I danced to at our wedding would be one of them. (Which was They Might Be Giants' "Another First Kiss)
