TWQ: Supermarket Irritants

Nowadays, there seem to be more things in supermarkets that get us mad. This vweek, TWQ (the Weekend Question) asks you to list some of yours.

What things in supermarkets annoy you? List as many as you wish.

My answers are:

* Automatic item processors: they are useless, despite the efforts of staff to encourage us to use them.

* When we are asked  "Do you want a bag to put them in?". Of course we do!

* Putting similarly themed foodstuffs in separate parts of the supermarket

* Thinning the anount of foodstuffs to make way for selling televisions, radios and other items. We want the food!

Now it's over to you...

I agree with you on the self checkout lanes.

Cashiers not at the registers when you need to check out.

Employees standing around in the middle of the aisles blocking your way instead of working.

Soaking wet shopping carts. You'd think they would offer some paper towels to dry the carts.

Card readers that don't work.

Employees who go through the checkout line and stop to talk to the cashier for 5 minutes while I'm waiting behind them.

Employees stocking shelves during the busiest times of the day. Why not do that at 3am when no one is shopping?

Placing additional items on the floor in the aisles so you can't actually get through the aisle with a cart.

People that leave their cart in front of you so that they may walk down the aisle for something else

People that leave children in the cart as they walk away

People that leave their purse (handbag) in the cart - Stupid!

People that take their whole family + the neighbor's kid and a dog with them to the store

People (sackers/baggers) that insist on putting my tomatoes on the bottom of my can goods!

Humm I have a theme going on...um I guess it's the People mostly

Oh an I don't get paid to use the Auto item processors not to bag my own products - So I don't

And a happy weekend to you :-D

When people go through the Express Lane with MANY more items than are allowable, and the checkout teller actually processes them anyway without a word.

The fact that produce, bread products, and milk products are as far away from each other as possible.

Definitely what PilgrimChick said about people going through the limited item lanes with way too many items but being allowed to anyway!

I hate having to make my way through the entire store just to find the few simple things that I need - especially the milk which is all the way in the back corner!

- 'Two for ones' that save big money when you really only need one of something. Lately its becoming 'three for twos' as well.
- "there is something in the bagging area" at self service checkout requiring a staff member to use a special card to clear the error
