TWQ: Your Karaoke Song

Have you ever thought of getting up on stage to sing a karaoke song? TWQ (The Weekend Question) asks about it.

What song would you sing if asked to play in a karaoke contest? Name a few if you can't decide.

My answers are:

The audience are likely to head for the exits when I start as I have an awful singing voice, but for those masochists who wish to stay, here is the list.

Firstly, it would be Dancing Queen by Abba,

Others would be Sweet Caroline or Cracklin' Rose by Neil Diamond

A personal favourite would be American Pie by Don McLean

Now it's over to you...

But before I go, here's a Bonus Quiz.

Can you name the longest running police drama in the world? No looking on the internet! I'll give you the answer later in the comments.

  1. well I was in the school chorus in elementary for 3 years, Jr high 3 years, High school 2 years

And in my sophomore year in H-School I was in the talent show (my Music Director thought it would prepare me for the Pageant next year which would be good on my CD for college..

I sang a heart song.. Nobody Home..

It was the first time I had EVER sang a solo without the chorus standing next to me

standing alone center stage wasnt my thing

I sang so softly no one could hear me and after the curtain closed ran off and hid

  3. I'm awful at singing (I could probably clear the room!), but I guess I would sing:

    Always by Bon Jovi
    Real World by Take That
I Believe in a Thing Called Love by The Darkness
Blaze of Glory by Bon Jon Jovi
    Real World by Matchbox Twenty

    I think that's about it!

Ermmm... my guess on the Cop Show is The Bill... LOL.

  6. I've only done the whole Karaoke thing one time and I sand Walkin' After Midnight by Patsy Cline. I wasn't too bad, my voice is just soft.

And I thought the bonus answer was COPS as well.

  8. Sadly, I have sang karaoke a lot (due to extensive travel in Asia) and I end up doing bad rap songs because they are the only ones I can keep up with.

So: Bloodhound Gang - Discovery Channel and Lil John - Get Low are my karaoke songs.

    Michele sent me.

    Don't Go Breaking My Heart

  10. Such a shame I can't cheat. Sio, here goes. I'll say "The Fugitive". As far as Karaoke, it's been years. Back when the inibriation factor allowed, I'd get up and do Enelburt Humperdink's "After the Loving". I was quite the showman. One night, I looked behind me and the waitresses in a pub locked arms and were doing a left kick/right kick. I managed to keep my composure! :D

Alright, you and I must be around the same age because I seriously LOVE those songs. All of them! Cracklin' Rose is awesome. Anything ABBA is the bomb. I would sing the same songs as you. How about a duet? :)

Oh I forgot the bonus question. My guess is Hill Street Blues.

  16. You all would be great in a talent show! What a line-up that would be!

Renee, a duet with you singing Cracklin Rose would be excellent.

None of you have you have got the world's longest running police drama yet. I think you've all being assuming it's American. A clue is that it is British and has been going 25 years and is still on tv.

  17. I couldn't carry a tune if you put handles on it or loaned me a wheelbarrow, but if I were to try karaoke, the song would have to be "Fields of Gold," by Sting.

  18. I think the longest police drama was NYPD Blue. Or maybe Law and Order.

    as for Karaoke, i'd choose:
    1. I Will Survive
    2. Dude Looks Like A Lady

I might sing Aretha Franklin's RESPECT and ask Michele to sing back-up. It would be hard to hold the mic steady though for all the dancing that song makes me do.

  20. You're all great singers!

For those still unaware, the answer to the world's longest running police drama is the Scottish one named Taggart. It has been going 25 years.

  21. I'll sing HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :)

Because I really can't sing. Sigh!

  22. Hey Captain! Sorry I was on vacation these past 2 weeks (and still internet-less at home!).

    I would sing:

Why can't I be you - by the Cure, but I'll doubt that would be in there.
