TWQ: Cars

This weekend, TWQ (The Weekend Question) looks into car tastes.

If money were no object (and you could drive), which car would you select? It does not have to be a car that exists now.

My answer is:

I would choose is a '70's style Stingray Corvette (below)

Alternately, an old-style VW Beetle would be good as well.

Now it's over to you....

  1. I would like to drive a black 2005 Jaguar XJ.

  2. Hmm. I don't know much about cars, but a Westland Lynx woudl be good at handling terrestrial traffic jams and is quite fast with a maximum speed of around 250mph.

    Michele says 'NaNo NaNo"!

  3. Ford Fiesta - What a dream machine!

  4. Ew, a Beatle? I've driven many, but I've never found one to becomfortable! I have trouble seeing over the dashboard in a Corvette. I don't know about many luxury cars, so I'll settle for a brand new Toyota Supra. When the kids move out, I'll prefer a two-seater like a MG. My first car was a '66 MG Midget, and I loved it, but it was falling apart!

  5. Have to go with the VW vintage Beetle convertable :)

    or an old jeep!

  6. I have always wanted a convertible; something like the Mercedes 500 series or even a new Chrysler will do.

    Michele sent me, Jean-Luc!

  7. My needs are relatively simple. I like cars that are small, fast, efficient, reliable and zingy.

A new-generation Honda Civic Si hatchback - unavailable, sadly, in North America.

Or Volvo's upcoming C30. Reminds me of my late uncle's old Volvo P1800. What a lovely little car that was.

  8. I have a classic car, 1964 EH Holden Special, bright red, mag wheel, chrome finish. I can't drive as yet though, hoping to get around to it this year? I've always been partial to Jags, with the long nose like the Stingray, nice. Have you seen the futuristic cars designed in the 50s/60s yum;P

  9. Hmm, still thinking about dream wheels...

I'm a big fan of the 2nd generation Toyota MR2. It looked like something that emerged from an Italian design studio...yet it was Corolla-bulletproof under the skin.

    Sigh...

  10. Would it be fair if I say I would like to have the same car as that on your photo. Or maybe a jaguar, latest model.

  12. The old 80's Toyota Supra's were nice... but a 70's style spider would be better.

    Hi from Michele!

  13. Some kind of red convertible that goes fast!

  14. I'd still go with a vw passat 4 motion. practically and what I want. :)

  15. You stole my car. Well, I'd go with a '69. Silver.

If we were to do alternatives, I'd go with the Dodge Viper.

I've also always wanted one of the old boxy jeep wranglers before they started turning into SUVs.

Really, if money were no object, I'd own all three.

  16. Can we say a Landspeeder, I mean without ruffling the captain of the Enterprise's feathers? Man, that would be cool!

I don't know if I can get a minivan landspeeder, though. Plus, I think George Lucas would be grossed out by how quickly my family would gunk it up with french fries and spilled drinks. Well, I guess he IS used to Wookies, though... ;-)

Sorry for making you feel ill at my blog the other day. Things aren't much better here....

A proper VW beetle sounds great to me. Mind you my hubbys best friend had one, and they both used to spend lots of time underneath it trying to get it going.
But if money was no object then I could have a few for back up when one broke down.

Perhaps I ought to take driving lessons first?

  19. Real life car: a late '95 Corvette ZR-1. I think it's the sweetest looking car. Either that one, or the 20th anniversary edition Corvette. That one is loaded with muscle!!

Fantasy vehicles: "The Transformers" Bike-bot armored worksuit you see Spike's son running around in. That would be awesome to play with! The speeder bikes in Star Wars VI would be wicked fun, too.

I think I would like a 1962 or 03 Chevy Caprice, or Impala.

  22. I'd like several.

A 30 something Ford Street Rod
    A 68 Camero
    A an H2

Is that too many? I can go on and on

  23. When I was a kid, I thought that Trans Ams were the coolest cars ever.

Now I'm not so sure what I would want.

Interestingly enough (or maybe not), we just got a Saturn Vue. I really like this thing. I'm still getting used to driving it, though.

  24. 1971 Cuda Convertable would be nice. :)

I would have a hard time choosing though I like so many from that time period.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I would choose the hybrid Toyota Sienna, that is due out......any time now.

Nerdy, I know, but I need a bigger vehicle and I don't want to ruin the environment or my budget.

WEll my husband wants a Bentley but I personally don't want a car for the future. I rather materialize into particles like you Captain!

gotta re learn to drive first though!

  28. You have exquisite tastes in cars, my friends. It's no surprise that many liked the Stingray or similar cars. The Beetle as well reflects individuality.

The cars Florence referred to designed in the '50's and '60's were very special, like the Thunderbirds.

  29. Yes, the Thunderbirds. I really like the tv series the Thunderbirds too. FAB Captain;D

    Michele says Hi.

  30. I want one of the new Honda Odyssey Hybrids that is due out this fall. I also love the way the Accords handle.

  38. Great question. My dream car is a 1964-1/2 Mustang. Not sure if I want hard top or convertible. And I recently rode in a Lexus SUV and it was amazing. I now have car envy, but I still like my Honda Pilot!

    Michele sent me today!
