TWQ: TV Comedy Quotes

This week, TWQ (The Weekend Question) looks into those favourite TV comedy quotes that you love.

Can you list your favourite comedy quotes from tv shows? Put as many as you wish.

My answers are:

"I have NOT got a disease!" Denzil (Only Fools & Horses)
"Don't mention the war." Basil Fawlty (Fawlty Towers)
"I have a cunning plan." Baldrick (Blackadder)
"Don't tell him, Pike." Captain Mainwaring (Dad's Army)
Girl to Rodney: "Do you like grass or astroturf?"
Rodney: "I don't know, I've never smoked astroturf." Rodney (Only Fools & Horses)

Now it's over to you...

  1. Hmmmmm. The only thing I can think of Jean-Luc is Lucy saying: RICKY!!!! (when in trouble)....THAT was always funny to me....)I'm afraid I don't watch many Sit-Coms cause basically I don't think they are very funny...BUT, I am hooked on the re-runs here, late at night, of FRAZIER....That does make me laugh out loud at times.....The wrting is wonderful and the actors are SUPERB! I never watched it when it was on originally....And Now, I cannot get enough of it...! LOL!

  8. One of my favorite lines from the Simpsons that I use whenever possible:

"Oh anyone can use statistics to prove a point, 18% of the people know that."

I use a lot of Simpsons quotes in my daily life.

That one has always stuck with me. Most of what he has to say is amusing (to me, anyway).

  19. Not exactly a TV comedy, but first a radio comedy. Hitch hikers guide to the galaxy.

"Lintilla, throw the gun" and one that really confuses the children is "so it's eddies sofa then?" - we tend to throw them into conversations!

    But the best one is;
    "you dancin'?"
    "you askin'"
    "I'm askin'"
    "well I'm dancin'"

from the Liver Birds, the Liverpudlian girls sharing a flat in the early 1970s.

  20. "When everyone is out to get you, paranoid is just good thinking"
"Doctor" Johnny Fever from WKRP in Cincinnati

"Don't play dumb with me, you're not as good at it as I am"
    Col. Flagg in M*A*S*H

Also numerous quotes from Homer on The Simpsons

"Son, when you participate in sporting events, it's not whether you win or lose: it's how drunk you get."

"I don't know, Marge. Trying is the first step towards failure."

"Marge, it takes two to lie. One to lie and one to listen."

"Lisa, if you don't like your job you don't strike. You just go in every day and do it really half-assed. That's the American way."

    "Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand."

    And last but not least:
    "Hi. Michele sent me."
