TWQ: Musical Intros

The Weekend Question (TWQ) this week asks about the musical starts to great records:

Can you name at least five (can be as many as you like) songs with instantly recognisable musical introductions before the lyrics even start?

These are my answers:

1: 'A Whiter Shade Of Pale' by Procul Harum

2: 'Whiskey In The Jar' by Thin Lizzy

3: 'Crocodile Rock' by Elton John

4: 'All You Need Is Love' by The Beatles

5: 'Pinball Wizard' by The Who

Now it's over to you...

  11. Jen and I were just talking about this last night. I can figure out a song pretty quickly, which is one of the reason's why I was so good at doing the Overhead's at church, becuase if the leader left his song list, I could follow him easier than some of the others. I'm still good in the country genre at naming songs too. A few other favorites as well. Of course, do you think I can come up with any of the titles right now?!

I enjoyed the answers on your meme. :)

  12. Don't forget that you lived on that planet and had a family and learned to play the flute, or does it not count if it didn't really happen?

  13. Ok, I just had to get in on this one! I'm a huge music buff, after all. For fun, I'll do ten songs and I'll limit it to what's in my collection as what I think others will recognize:

"You Might Think" by The Cars
"One Thing Leads to Another" by The Fixx
"Only Time Will Tell" by Asia
"Cars" by Gary Numan (the Fear Factory version's good, too!)
"Wheel in the Sky" by Journey
    "The Look" by Roxette
    "I Can't Drive 55" by Sammy Hagar
"Bring me To Life" by Evanescence
"No More Mr. Nice Guy" by Alice Cooper
    "Photograph" by Def Leppard

Honorable mention: just about anything from the first two Boston albums.

  16. I love Smallville Capt! I can't wait till the new episode this Thursday!!!

  17. Great songs so far. I know 'Spirit In The Sky' is one I should have added, as well as 'Strawberry Fields Forever'.

Better Safe, 'The Others' is a great movie that I can always watch. 'The Forgotten' is not unlike it, and I love that, too.

Trin, Smnallville starts it's 5th series on Monday, with Smallville devastated, a mysterious object landing and Clark somewhere else (Krypton?). What an ending! Can't wait for the new series to start!

    Imagine - John Lennon
Jump Around - House of Pain
